Abstract: Organic farming in India is attaining popularity day by day. India is endowed with various types of naturally available organic form of nutrients in different parts of the country and it will help for organic cultivation of crops substantially. The rising population of India has started creating demographic pressure on agriculture sector to maintain food security. For producing better crop yield, chemical fertilizers and pesticides were used and this creates more health hazards. To generate good health and environment, a need arise a shift to organic agriculture. India is home to 30 per cent of the total organic producers in the world, but accounts for just 2.59 per cent (1.5 million hectares) of the total organic cultivation area of 57.8 million hectares (World of Organic Agriculture Report, 2018). Organic farming is beneficial for natural resources and the environment. The study mainly focused on the Present status of the organic farming in India and given the main challenges and constraints of organic farming.

Abstract: Nutritional status of the subjects at baseline and during treatment of cancer plays a vital role in clinical outcomes and response for cancer treatment. This study was planned to prospectively assess the dietary intake of consecutive de novo pediatric cancer patients enrolled for treatment at a tertiary care center. Dietary assessment of the subjects (n=626) was done using Food Frequency and Amount Questionnaire (FFAQ). This information was then used to calculate daily intake of the foods/ food groups by each subject and was compared with the reference for respective age group for the same food and food groups. Results revealed that more than 70% of the subjects were consuming cereals, pulses and milk and milk products <RDI. Similarity Roots and tubers, other vegetables, Green leafy vegetables (GLV), and fruits were consumed <RDA by majority of the subjects (86.10%, 92.00%, 71.20% and 87.50% respectively). Girls consumed significantly more of cereals, pulses, milk, roots and tubers, GLV and fruits compared to boys. Cereals, pulses and milk and milk products intake was higher in older children (5-10 years and >10 years) as compared to younger (< 5 years). Vegetables and fruits intake was significantly higher in younger children (<5 years) as compared to children of 5-10 years and >10 years. Milk and other vegetables intake was higher in hematological malignancies (HM) patient’s comparative to solid tumor (ST) patients and this difference was found to be significant (p= 0.024, p= 0.036). Majority of the pediatric cancer subjects consumed less than RDI of all most all the food groups at baseline. Significant associations were found between dietary pattern, age, gender and type of cancer in pediatric cancer subjects.

Abstract: Pennagaram block of Dharmapuri district was taken our study. In our study area groundwater is a major water system for household and agricultural improvement. During the year of 2013, eighty groundwater samples were collected from various locations in the study area. The various ground water parameters were analyzed and computing various statistical tools using SPSS software version 16.0. The descriptive statistics shows, the average of cations are Ca²⁺ ˃ Na⁺ ˃ Mg²⁺ ˃ K⁺ and anions are Cl^-> HCO₃^-> SO₄^2->NO₃^- > F^-. It shows the cations and anions are highly adjustable with water constituents. The major ions are mainly influenced by EC. Based on dendrogram, the more significant parameters modify the value of EC and TDS. It might be caused by change in spatial and temporal variation. Correlation and Factor analysis shows the impact of alkaline and alkaline earth chlorides are dissolution from the soil. At higher pH ionic exchange occurs between F^- and OH^- ions resulting in increase of F^- ions in groundwater. This result identifies the water quality factors and spatial variations of water quality for resourceful water quality management.

Abstract: The largescale proliferation of internet has revolutionised the news consumption behaviour of people. Nowadays news consumption mainly takes place in the digital medium. This changing trend could be gauged by an increasing number of print newspapers shifting to online mediums to deliver news. As transformation to the digital medium happens at a phenomenally faster phase, this study focuses on factors effecting the change among digital natives. Digital natives refer a generation grown up acclimatised to the use of digital technologies. The researches done so far has been more or less limited to news consumption through traditional media like new paper, television and radio.  So, this research investigated the news consumption behaviour of the digital natives through  qualitative approach. For the purpose of the study, a set of questions were prepared and responses collected from college students, as they represent digital natives. The study looked into aspects like accessibility, cost factors, time spent and easiness to use a digital media to consume news. The findings of the research indicate that there is a growing popularity for digital news delivery mediums. The respondents accorded top priority for easy to access and convenience for choosing an online news medium. This research has shown that youth spend a considerable time to get their daily dose of news through social media and mobile platforms. The payment options for consuming news through digital medium depends on the individual. Taking these factors into consideration, the research suggests that traditional media companies should gear up to serve better the emerging segment of digital natives.

Abstract: Phytoremediation is an emerging technology that uses plants and their associated microbes to clean up pollutants from the soil, water, and air. In order to select the plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) for phytoremediation of heavy metal contamination soil.The present investigation was carried out in soil sample collected from Nallampalli, Dharmapuri district, TamilNadu. Bacterial PGPR isolates in agricultural soil. The PGPR bacteria identify Based on biochemical characterization and specialized literature were identified of the genus Pseudomonas and Bacillus in the soil. The sterilized soil was treated with 1% of Cu, Mn, Pb heavy metal by spraying. After Cu, Mn, Pb contaminated soil and agricultural soil were put in pots. Capsicum annum was selected to PGPR inoculated and metal inoculated on pots which significantly analyzing the plant biomass and photosynthetic pigments of chlorophyll, carbohydrates and Protein component was reported on inoculation microbes under heavy metal and determined the contaminated level in cultivated soil (inoculation Bioinoculants) compared to control plants at 45 DAI (Day After Inoculation). Bioinoculants inoculated plant’s fresh and dry weight were decreased under heavy metal treatment compared to microbes uninoculanted control plants. The results of this research showed that heavy metal metabolism was decrease in inoculation microbes on vegetable crops cultivated soil and heavy metal was degraded by microbes. Thus, the capacity of the microbes to survive and degrading of heavy metal and promoted to growth of vegetable crops on Bacillus spp. and Pseudomonas spp. were good candidates of environmental protector. Therefore, studying the behavior of heavy metal in the soil environment had great significance for its valid application. Phytostabilization is the process by which PGPR are stimulated to rapidly degrade the heavy metal contaminated soil to environmentally safe levels in soils.

It is of igneous origin formed by hydrothermal solutions and occurs as vein deposits. The host rocks are shales, quartzites, and dolomites of sedimentary origin intruded by basic sills belonging to lower Cuddapah basin.

Abstract: The dye decolorizing isolates Bacillus sp and Pseudomonas sp were isolated from textile effluent sample collected from Erode, Tamilnadu. Different parameters such as pH, temperature, different concentration of dye, carbon source, Nitrogen source and different incubation periods were optimized for decolorization of reactive red M5B by using bacterial isolates.  The optimal condition for decolorization of reactive red M5B for both Bacillus sp and Pseudomonas sp was found to be 1% glucose, 1% peptone, pH 7.0, 37⁰c, 1% dye concentration. Bacillus sp and Pseudomonas showed highest decolourization of 76% and 79% at the end of 96hrs under optimum condition. The present study concluded that bacterial isolates like Bacillus sp and Pseudomonas sp can be used as good microbial source for treatment.

Abstract: Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time. While the first World Climate Conference took place as far back as 1979, discourse on Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction has only gained momentum in recent years, particularly following the Earth Summit held in Rio De Jainero, Brazil in 1992. The resultant adoption of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and the putting in place of the Conference of Parties to move the climate agenda forward, particularly marked key milestones. This paper examines the progress made, the challenges met and the prospects in the international community’s efforts in climate diplomacy and Disaster Risk Reduction since 1992. Whereas important achievements have been made, especially in raising global awareness on climate change and disaster risk reduction, bottlenecks remain on the journey towards a safer planet. International efforts have particularly been constrained by a general lack of consensus between the developed and the developing nations on issues such as cutting Green Gas Emissions, limited local-level implementation of the commitments agreed upon at the international level, and a resurgence of voices challenging the legitimacy of climate science. By implication, transforming global consciousness on climate change into practical action such as climate change adaptation at the local level still poses significant challenges. Nonetheless, the momentum that the climate discourse has gained in recent years presents an unprecedented opportunity for the international community to finally translate rhetoric into practical action for climate change and reduction of climate-accentuated disaster risks.

Abstract: The establishment of organochlorine insecticides (OCIs) exhibited remarkable benefits on various sectors such as agricultural, commercial, pharmaceutical, household usage, active ingredient as preservatives in fruits and vegetables etc. Nevertheless, the use of these synthetics increased day by day, perceived harmful effects worldwide. The present study focused on the current trends in the OCI levels in selected soils of Palakkad district, Kerala. Soil samples were collected during the month of September, 2014 (Wet Season) and February, 2015 (Dry Season) and OCIs namely, α-BHC, β-BHC, γ-BHC, heptachlor, aldrin, heptachlor epoxide (B), 4,4’-DDE, dieldrin, endrin, 2,4’-DDD, 4,4’-DDD, 2,4’-DDT, 4,4’-DDT, α-endosulfan and β-endosulfan, has been monitored in order to assess the caused risk assessment by using GC-ECD. Results revealed that the ∑OCIs in soils were ranged from 16.79 – 123.27 ng g^-1 along the stations throughout the sampling period. Dominant contaminants frequently observed were endrin, heptachlor derivatives, aldrin, BHC derivatives and dieldrin, while other analyzed OCIs including DDT derivatives and endosulphan were found below detection levels (BDL). These observations highlight the gradual shift in the application of synthetic towards traditional practices of organic farming in the area. However, the occurrence of trace amounts of OCIs in the realm could be designated as slight recent application.

Abstract: Siderophores are small protein molecules that can easily bind to ferric iron. As a chelating agent they transport iron molecules inside the bacterial cell for various biochemical reaction. At present studies characterization of few siderophores producing bacteria from the soil samples collected from Salem district, Tamil Nadu. The siderophores production was assayed qualitatively and quantitatively through Chrome Azural S and the results showed positive for the strains PSA01 and PSA02 that grown in succinate medium. In pot culture studies Sesamum indicum. L showed significantly increase in the root length, shoot length, fresh weight, dry weight and total chlorophyll and carotenoids significantly increased in treated plant. The antagonist activity of the siderophore producing Pseudomonas spp against fungal pathogen Fusarium oxysporum. This result showed that Pseudomonas spp is a good producer of siderophore which can be usefully exploited as a biocontrol agent and also as plant growth promoter and increasing the Oil yielding crops.

Abstract: This study aims at assessing the viability of wind energy in Nigeria to desalinate water through reverse osmosis technology.  Burutu which has been identified with shortage of drinking water as a result salt water intrusion from the ocean. Data used for this study was obtained from National Aeronautics and Space Administration and Nigerian meteorological Agency and analysed using a self-developed excel spread sheet. Other parameters such as blade diameter, cut-in wind speed, hub height, extracted from the manufacturer data sheet of the turbine chosen for this design was used to develop the formulas used in the excel sheet. Four analysis was carried out on both data. First was the estimation of wind speed in m/s at the height of 120m. Second analysis was the calculation of energy generation in kWh. Third analysis was calculation of volume of water in m^3 which can be desalinated using electricity generated from the average monthly wind speed. The last analysis is the amount of Co2 saved as a result of use of renewables as source of power. The result shows that wind speed in Burutu has an annual average wind speed of 4.53m/s from NASA and 3.20m/s from Nimet data. Average monthly energy generated in this location is 39,733kwh and an annual volume of water desalinate is 95,359m^3 with 228 tonne of CO2 saved.

Abstract: The study intended to govern the effectiveness of interactive and collaborative learning activities in enhancing the performance of students in understanding the concept of Practical Research 2. The study was conducted to Grade 12 Tech-voc students of Santa Rosa National High School during the first semester of the School Year 2018-2019. Findings showed that students’ performance were improved after the integration of interactive and collaborative learning activities.  Likewise, the obtained t-value denotes that there is significant difference in the performance of students between control and experimental groups after the integration of interactive and collaborative learning activities in Practical Research 2. Accordingly, interactive and collaborative learning activities contributed significant effect in the performance of students. Students are more likely to understand the concept and get the correct answer in the test after the application of interactive and collaborative learning activities regardless of the type of test applied.
