Abstract: Lifelong learning, which includes regular school education and adult learning, can be seen as a strategy in the context of the life-course approach. According to international labour organization (ILO), lifelong learning is “a policy strategy directed towards integrating older persons into the contemporary labour market, to give them the necessary education level to adapt to the educational system in order to meet the changing economic, social and demographic conditions” lifelong learning does not necessarily take place during the traditional education period at a young age, but can be undertaken later. As such it pertains to older persons working or in retirement as well as young and middle-aged people. Its societal impact is twofold: first, education and qualifications have a direct economic impact, by increasing the employability of people in all ages; second, lifelong learning promotes the integration, participation, and well being of its recipients, which also has an economic impact.

Abstract: The Government had notified the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016, in suppression of the earlier Plastic Waste (Management and Handling) Rules, 2011.   The Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, India, Shri Prakash Javadekar, amended that the minimum thickness of plastic carry bags has been increased from 40 microns to 50 microns. 15, 000 tonnes of plastic waste is generated every day, out of which 9, 000 tonnes is collected and processed, but 6, 000 tonnes of plastic waste is not being collected.  An eco-friendly product, which is a complete substitute of the plastic in all uses, has not been found till date.  In the absence of a suitable alternative, it is impractical and undesirable to impose a blanket ban on the use of plastic all over the country. The real challenge is to improve plastic waste management systems. The threat to environment and quality of life has been due to accumulation of plastic bags wastes. They are environmental unfriendly to its extreme level. The usage of plastic bags and further ‘throw away culture’ have resulted in finding their ways into the city drainage system, clogging the drains leading to sanitation problems, sewage problems which ultimately cause severe flash flood in the city. In this study an attempt will be made regarding the usage of plastic bags and environmental hazard with special reference to Kolkata. In this study descriptive method will be used and sample will be selected based on purposive sampling techniques.

Abstract: In this advance civilization, structural concrete research of self-compacting concrete is a revolutionary disk of social development and implemented worldwide. In the current scenario of modern construction Self-compacting concrete contributes a dynamic role to fulfil the demand of modern architectural and it’s complex form work with reinforcement having intricate geometrical configuration where SCC easily flow around the impenetrable reinforcement without blocking and fill into all corners and junctions of formwork without mechanical compaction targeting avoid honeycombs/voids as well as save time, labour and energy. In this research work there are wide ranges of experimental approach in various possessions of self-compacting concrete incorporating NanoSilica 0%, 0.25%, 0.50%, 0.75%,1.0% replaced by cement which cover the assortments of experiments of Fresh Concrete Test i.e. Slump flow test, J-Ring test, V-Funnel test, L-Box test and U-Box test, with different Control Mixes i.e. CM, CM1, CM2, CM3 and CM4 of target strength of 30 Mpa  grade, perform after the curing time period of 7, 28 and 56 days. NanoSilica is a revolutionary modern colloidal material which will react with C3S and C2S in the cement and produce CSH that will form a flexible high performance bond of gel. The extraordinary results shows the Designed Rheological workability (DRW) categorized as high performed filling ability, passing ability, segregation resistance which make the concrete high perform mechanical behaviour that is High Performance Self-Compacting Concrete (HPSCC).

Title: Experimental Approach in Various Possessions of High Performance Self-Compacting Concrete Incorporating NanoSilica

Abstract: WHO had drawn the attention of research investigation into herbal medicine to attest to their efficacy of plants with bioactive healing property that could be of great clinical importance in the health management. Objective of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of Nettle plant extract in controlling the blood glucose level. Sixty (60) male Wistar rats (4-6) week old, weighing (90-180)g were  purchased from the Animal Research Center, Babcock University. The rats were housed in colony cages of seven (8) rats per cage, at 23◦C, relative humidity of (30-70) %, under light/dark cycle of 12hrs for 2 week acclimatization. All rats had equal access to free food and water. On 15th day the rats were separated into 4 experimental groups: Positive control, Negative control, Chemotherapeutic and Chemopreventive groups.  Fasting blood glucose test was done to determine the blood glucose level. Oral glucose Tolerance Test was performed using glucometer to determine glucose tolerance level in the rats. The oxidative stress test was done to determine the hepatic enzyme activity. Results showed the means of fast glucose level ranged from (84.63) mg/dl in Positive control group, (97.63) mg/dl in Negative control group, (87.0) mg/dl in Chemotherapeutic group and (75.50) mg/dl for Chemo-preventive group control. Blood glucose levels in Chemotherapeutic and Chemopreventive treatments were within the safe limits of blood glucose levels. Such reduction in blood glucose was attributed to Nettle plant extract effectiveness to lower blood glucose level. Means of oxidative test results indicated that hepatic Superoxide Dismutase, Catalase and Glutathione inhibited the free radical activity efficiently and were improved by Nettle plant extract. In conclusion pathological tests indicated that Nettle plant extract was effectiveness in controlling and prevention of diabetes in rats.

Abstract: The need for Vocational Education is the order of the day as it is necessary for the reduction of unemployment, creation of small and medium enterprises for the increase in GDP and per capita income. To improve world class productivity and quality as well as bring out a surge in trade and commerce, the greatest challenge in Indian education system is to facilitate skill based education to youth and especially women. It is always an equation that job market requires the work force with at least a basic graduate degree and desirable vocational training. The new avenues of scientific and technological explosion have led to a paradigm shift in the basic objectives of imparting education. The factors such as increasing competition, economic slowdown, poverty, illiteracy, population imbalances and political instability are juxtaposed against the ICT revolution, relevant education and skill development for better career. This paper showcases the need to establish relationship between education, career and community. There is also a necessity for establishing new relationships between education, the world of work and the community as a whole. In this context, Vocational Education, Training & Skill Development should exist as part of a system of lifelong learning adapted to the needs of the students according to their relevant contexts. Few years ago vocational education was considered to be imparted to the people who do not show considerable aptitude in the academics and thus need specific skills to get employment. But as of today, people are opting for the skill related courses in addition to the regular academics so as to improve their job prospects. As the online and offline courses are lesser in cost, they make the students job ready, show success in career and promote entrepreneurship.

Abstract: Self-compacting concrete (SCC) is a well-defined flowable material, and non-segregating concrete that doesn’t need mechanical vibration and has a capability to self-heal or compact itself by its own weight. Self-compacting concrete is categorized by a low yield stress, Designed Rheological workability (DRW), filling ability, passing ability, segregation resistance, high deformability and high durability as a High Performance Self-Compacting Concrete (HPSCC).In this paper mechanical properties of M30 grade concrete by partial replacement of cement with Nano-silica are studied. The results were obtained for compressive strength, split tensile strength and flexural strength at7days, 28days and 56days. It was observed that addition of Nano-silica increases the compressive strength at all replacements levels in comparison to control mix. Also, strength is much higher at the initial ages due to the reaction of unhydrated calcium hydroxide with Nano-silica.

Abstract: This research examines how the Zimbabwean Macadamia nuts farmer responds to changes in prices and non-price factors. The research utilized the Nerlovian Model (1958), a dynamic model that expresses current production output as a function of lagged variables of production output and other exogenous variables, which is an Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) Model. The natural logarithm (ln) of Yield per hectare depended on the ln of Yield lagged once, price, rainfall, fertilizer, chemical, fuel and labour, all lagged once. Time series monthly data (2009-2016) from Makandi Estates was analyzed. Results revealed an inelastic supply response both in short and long run. Such a weak supply response indicated that non-price factors were hindering the crop to swiftly respond to price changes.

Abstract:  Violent activity is one of the leading causes of death among young population in diverse groups and is a serious threat to public health. Youth or adolescents are the crucial stage of life who strives for independent living in the society in order to fulfill their needs. Any acute and persistent deprivation can lead to engagement or involvement in anti-social behaviour in the community. In the present study violence related to ethnicity has been the focus particularly in the North-eastern state of Manipur where people from diverse ethnic groups experience violent struggle on a day-to-day basis. Aim: The aim of the present study is to determine the attitude towards violence among college going youth. Method: A survey research design was conducted which is descriptive in nature. Simple random sampling (lottery method) was used for selecting six colleges and a sample of 300 respondents was selected through total enumeration method. Results: It was found that majority of youth reported to have negative attitude towards violence (80.3%) which reveals most of the youth in the current study did not support the use of violent measures. Conclusion: Based on the findings, the concept of unity of diverse populations can be enhanced through awareness creation and cultural programs in college and community levels towards cultivation of a sense of fraternity and harmony among youth belonging to diverse ethnic groups.

Abstract:  This study focused on college student-athletes perceptions focused on academic success or building athletic ability. While identifying the academic support methods and other key contributions college provide to student¬-athletes, this study displayed the perceptions of African-American male student-athletes in a predominantly white institution (PWI) and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU). The main question for this research focuses on the differences between academic success and athletic ability. By using the approach of snowball sampling, this study examining African American male football athletes from Florida State University (FSU) a Division I and Florida Agriculture and Mechanical University (FAMU) a Division I¬AA. The researchers conducted surveys with the student-athletes to understand and capture their perception. The finding shows that 55% of FSU student-¬athletes disagreed or strongly disagreed that academic performance was more important than athletic performance. 65% of FAMU student¬-athletes disagreed or strongly disagreed academic performance was more important than athletic performance.

Abstract: The purpose of the study was to examine differences in leadership styles among hospital supervisors based on their demographic characteristics of age, gender, educational level, and years of experience. A total of (N = 240) randomly selected supervisors, ages 20 – 70 years, from four randomly selected hospitals in the southern region of the United States voluntarily participated in the study. Hersey’s perspective of Situational Leadership® was used as a conceptual framework for this study. The Leadership Effectiveness Adaptability Descriptor (LEAD) was used to collect data on leadership styles, while demographic data was collected using demographic survey designed by the researcher. The results of the one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) failed to reveal any significant differences in leadership styles among supervisors based on demographic characteristics of age, gender, educational level, and experience in years.

Abstract: Commodity derivatives such as futures or options are a powerful technique through which hedging, speculation, investment and arbitrage takes place in a modern economy. The major products of the commodity derivatives industry worldwide, is Index derivatives. Internationally, trading volume on index derivatives is multi times larger than that of commodity derivatives. Index Derivatives are mainly traded by professional traders, investors and portfolio managers to protect commodity portfolio, to arrange cost-effective exposure to an index whilst purchasing the underlying commodity, to take a trading view on the direction of the market. In this paper the study focused on importance of index derivatives in commodity portfolio construction and impact of index derivatives on risk and return.

Abstract: This study examined how managers and coaches managed communication with athletes in team and individual sports. Also, discover ways to develop communication styles and communication timing between coaches and athletes. Communication is a critical element in the relationship between coaches and athletes in team and individual sports, and between managers, referees, scorers, and other officials, who involves indirect measures of Development Communication Management (DCM). The researcher surveyed 200 athletes and 14 coaches in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. Data were collected using two questionnaires designed by the researcher, one for coaches and one for athletes -¬that employed a 5.0 Likert scale. The researcher used (MANOVA) models to test for significant differences between coaches and athletes, between genders, team, and individual sports. The significance level was set at p^.05. There is a significant difference between team and individual athletes regarding who they communicate with most frequently (p-value < .001).

Abstract: Melae Vaanum, Keelae Bhoomi is a photographic documentation of street children in Chennai and it is a visual narration of the dwelling condition of the street children today by the street children themselves clicking the images. The study critically reviews the images of the catalogue and portrays the effective environmental issues involved in the livelihood of street children such as water scarcity and pollution problems in the city, work environment of the children, and other environmental issues.The effectiveness of the visuals was studied in the theoretical framework of visual social semiotics and content analysis methodology has been adopted. Besides, the mentor and creator of the Photography Catalogue R.R. Srinivasan had been interviewed.The environmental issues focused by the print media in this catalogue in the form of graphic communication with image and text are a valid documentation by the street children in Chennai.

Abstract: Innovative changes in educational set ups world across needs to be implemented to make the education more meaningful by integrating the industry, society and academia sectors. The concept of innovation and its applications in field of education need to be clearly spelt out by realistic examples both to the learner and the facilitator. The entrepreneurial approach for solving societal problems by the students can happen only by bringing three important changes in the educational environmental setup namely innovative curriculum, innovative educational setup and innovative role as mentor to be played by the teacher. In 2011, based on recommendation of India’s National Innovation Council, University of Delhi has implemented the above-mentioned change in its educational setup by starting a Cluster Innovation Centre with non-traditional two undergraduates and one postgraduate course of studies. The innovative concepts of hands-on learning assisted by an engineering kitchen, industrial workshops, teaching mathematics through resource labs, freedom to design their own degree, project based learning to solve real world problems, innovative curriculum etc. have triggered an enhanced learning experience for students that has resulted in innovative output in form of products, designs and processes. The participative role played by learners in solving immediate neighborhoods problems based on the knowledge acquired in their course of studies has made the learning process more meaningful. The present paper reports the implemented pedagogical innovations and their outcome.

Abstract: The changing demands of tourism provide greater benefits to tourists and generate competitive advantages that develop diversity in tourism. Bui National Park (BNP) has a wealth of natural, cultural, historical and lately, recreational features. However, its location, and the creation of the Bui Hydro dam, has opened the area as a significant tourism area. This paper tries to evaluate the potential and possibilities of ecotourism in this protected area; using SWOT analysis to assess and evaluate the potential the area has for ecotourism in terms of sustainable development to provide useful ideas for further research. A sample size of 30 respondents was selected using simple random sampling method to answer a guided questionnaire for selected community members and staff of Bui National Park. The results revealed that the residents of Bui were positive about the idea of ecotourism in the area and showed interest in doing what they can to make it possible. The national park also showed great potentials for ecotourism which when well-developed will attract many visitors to the area; all these are geared towards improving the local and national economy. The management of BNP should make an effort to increase the public awareness of the park as a tourism destination, adding more activities to help immerse visitors into the community and involve the community members in decision making in such a way that could help boost their ecotourism potential. An ecotourism research unit, if established in BNP can do more research in the various aspects in ecotourism.
