Abstract: The National Kart Racing Championship is aimed to bring out the Innovations and creative potential of young automobile enthusiasts. The basic outline of the event consists of designing and fabricating a go-kart. We had made a go-kart having creativity with few restrictions mentioned in the rule book. The real essence of creating the go-kart lies in the sheer engineering practical applications and tests it in real time. The chosen project is based on the design and analysis of the chassis of a low ground clearance Go-kart. The project aimed to create a chassis that possesses good performance and features. This is done by carrying static analysis from theoretical knowledge and analytical methods using hyper mesh.

Design and fabrication of the Go-kart focuses on developing a simple and easily operated vehicle. Aspects of ergonomics, safety, ease of manufacture, and reliability are incorporated into the design specifications. 3 D models have been made for analysis purpose in SOLIDWORKS and analysis has been made in hyper mesh. 3D assembly models of the go-kart are designed for understanding purpose. 

This paper aims to model, simulate and perform the static analysis of a go kart chassis consisting of Circular beams. Modeling, simulations and analysis are performed using modeling software i.e. Solid Works according to the rulebook provided by National kart Racing Championship (NKRC-15).The maximum deflection is determined by performing static analysis.

Abstract: This paper focuses on enhancing the convective heat transfer rate with help of fins and variations by providing perforations. Experiment is conducted for both natural convection and forced convection for constant base plate at temperatures. Forced convection is carried at air velocity of 3.1m/s just before fins. Fins are rectangular with square cross-section. Experimental trails are conducted for inline and staggered fin plates. The experiment is conducted in three variations. First variation is solid fins without perforation. Second variation is fins with one perforation at 25 mm from base plate. The third variation is fins with two perforations separated 50 mm from center to center. These experiment trails are carried under an experimental setup which is designed for fin testing purpose for different alignment of fins

Abstract: Flame front surface area is theoretically analyzed for a spark-ignition engine, having hemispherical shaped combustion chamber and flat head spark ignition engine with two spark plugs located axis symmetrically on cylinder head, between cylinder axis and cylinder wall. A computer code is developed based on purely geometric consideration of the flame development process in combustion chamber on geometric features of the flame front. A hemispherical combustion chamber, also known as the HEMI, has a combustion chamber in the shape of a half sphere. The hemispherical combustion chamber has an advantage of cross flow design that allows the engine to breathe better. This is to give some turbulence to the engine. The hemispherical combustion chamber generates more power as the air does not have to turn at right angles and the resistance to its motion is less. The key advantage of a hemispherical combustion chamber is that its surface area to volume ratio is the least in the category as compared to other designs like flat head, wedge heads, etc. and therefore they have a superior thermal efficiency than other engines. Also, as the valves are located cross-wise, the valves can be made large resulting in better breathing of the engine The effects of the stroke/bore (S/B) ratio on the performance parameters of hemispherical head engine having dual-spark ignition (DSI) were investigated theoretically by using a two zone thermodynamic cycle model. The engine performance parameters, i.e., engine power, indicated mean effective pressure, specific fuel consumption, and thermal efficiency, were computed for various conditions. The obtained results for DSI operation have been compared to those of a single-spark-ignition (SSI) condition for both hemispherical cylinder head spark ignition engine and flat head spark ignition engine.

Abstract: The main aim of this present work is to develop polymer composite matrix UHMWPE filled aramid fabric hybrid polymer composite and to investigate their structure property correlation. To achieve the above work plan has been made accordingly. The experimental work has been classified in to three type of specimen development of 1.UHMWPE filled 0% in composite material.2 UHMWPE filled 2% in composite material, 3. UHMWPE filled 4 % in composite material composite. The main purpose of adding the UHMWPE filled aramid filler materials increases the hardness of the material and improve the coating Quality of the composite material. And study the dry sliding wear test aspects of the UHMWPE filled aramid fabric composites material, weight losses survey on the surface area of the composite.

Abstract: The need to address climate change caused by greenhouse gas emissions attaches great importance to research aimed at using renewable energy .Geothermal energy is an interesting alternative concerning the production of energy for air conditioning of buildings (cooling or heating) through the use of geothermal heat pumps. A ground source heat pumps (GSHP) uses the shallow ground as a source of heat thus taking advantage of its seasonally moderate temperatures.

The calculation of Ground couple Heat Exchanger performance is very important for predicting the performance and estimating the initial cost of geothermal heat pump systems. On average GHE are oversized by 10-30%.

Vertical Ground Heat Exchanger is most common because of its smaller environmental influence and land field requirement. This paper reviews the current theoretical, analytical and numerical model to calculate the performance of ground coupled heat exchanger. The purpose of this paper is to increase the awareness of different assumption and methodologies between calculation. There primary strength and weakness are also presented.

Abstract: In this investigation, AA6061 milled particle size was fabricated by milling machine plus compacted by hydraulic press in room temperature. Finally, sintering in the temperature range of 478-617 OC. Four groups of particle size were chosen (25, 63, 100, mix) µm. Each group has compacted by three specimens for various of Sintering temperature (487, 552, 617) OC, the compaction pressure and holding time were constant (9) tons, (20) min respectively. The physical properties of the four groups depend on the variations of sintering temperature. So, it is useful first to present and discuss the results of microstructure to understand the physical properties. In this study, the density value was increased with the increasing of sintering temperature value to (552) OC of all types of suggested groups due to the bonding between particles was stronger, in addition, the pores amount was decreased. After that, it was decreased due to the particles become big size lead to the barriers were decreased. The maximum value of density was detected by mix group which was (2.601 gm/cm3) while the particle size (25) µm was the minimum value which was (2.494 gm/cm3). Whereas the groups (63) µm and (100) µm were (2.590 gm/cm3) and (2.593 gm/cm3) respectively.

Abstract: This paper demonstrates how to recover the waste heat energy form internal combustion engine automobiles, including gasoline vehicles. The key is to directly convert the heat energy from automotive exhaust gases to electrical energy using a thermoelectric generator, which is then regulated by a Booster circuit converter to charge a battery using maximum power point tracking. Hence, the electrical power stored in the battery can be enhanced. This is a two way power storing system i.e. Energy from TEG and electrical generator cum motor can be stored in the battery. Both analysis and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed system can work well under different working conditions, and is promising for automotive industry.

Abstract: Nanofluids are colloidal suspension of nanosized solid particles0in a liquid. Generally nanoparticles are made of metals, oxides, carbides, while base liquids may be water, ethylene glycol or oil. Having suspended tiny particles in the base liquid improves the0thermal0conductivity0and thus the increase in heat transfer performance is expected.

A test study has been completed to examine the0heat0transfer0performance of water and TiO2 nanoparticles. This current experiment demonstrates the increases in convective heat transfer in nanofluid. The nanofluid developed by adding TiO2 nano sized particles of 10-20 nm in base liquid. Demineralized water is used as base liquid. Nanofluid with different volume fraction of TiO2 nano sized matter between 0.025-0.5 percent used in this current work. The test setup consists of a test section that includes copper pipe of 1000mm length, inner diameter 10mm and a heater. To minimize the heat loss in test section, insulation layer is covered. Thermocouples are utilized in test section to measure the temperatures. The effect of solid volume fraction, nanofluid flow rate and the inlet temperature on heat transfer performance of the nanofluid is examined in this current work. The results show an increment in heat transfer with raising volume0fraction of TiO2 nanoparticles and increase in temperature.

Abstract: This work present the investigation of heat transfer and flow characteristics of air jet impingement over heated tube. Two cases are studied in this investigation, first case is considering isothermal tube at constant temperature of 453 K, and second case is compressed air with inlet temperature of 453 K entering at tube inlet. The velocity profile, and Nusselt number over the tube are evaluated in this study, by comparing the jet slot height, effect of change in Reynolds number, effect of change in distance of jet to impingement tube, effect of splitting of slot into one, two and three slots, and the effect of changing the distance between two slots. The results are proposed in terms of Nusselt number, for the case of isothermal tube. Similarly, for the second case, the results are plotted in terms of drop in temperature of hot air at the exit end of the tube. The comparison is done for the effective cooling by using air jet impingement system.
