Abstract: This article investigates the way Alan Dugan criticizes wars since he was a soldier during World War II. Dugan who does not write a Rupert Brooke-like war verse paves the way to a new unconventional war poetry that criticizes wars and politics instead of praising the role of his country and magnifying the traditional concepts of war like masculinity, heroism, and patriotism. Dugan alludes to old myths in a way that distorts their originality in order to shed lights on the current issues of wars.  He finds that masculinity does not lie in killing others and shedding their bloods, and heroism does not settle in the defeat of the enemy.

Abstract: This article investigates language learning successfulness of three fluent non-native speakers of English who started learning the language as adults. To this end, four methods were implemented to comprehensively cover all aspects of their lingual success- SILL (Strategy Inventory for Language Learning) was used to assess their strategies, BALLI (Beliefs About Language Learning Inventory) was used to identify their beliefs about English, R&L (Richard and Lockhart model) was used to assess their learning style preferences, and finally in-depth interviews were conducted to assess the other sides of their successful journey of learning English. The research concludes that language learning styles don’t intervene in telling if a person is successful in language learning or not; however, it is found that there is a relevant correlation between certain learning strategies and some learning style preferences. It is suggested that future research in this area focus on finding more correlation between language learning styles and strategies related to them in order to help poor students become motivated.

Abstract: In Kuwait, teachers and educators must encourage students to use the Internet more for their own sake. However, I believe it is first of all important to explore students’ knowledge of and attitudes towards accepting and using the Internet, before actually asking them to use it. Most importantly, we need to determine the extent to which gender and discipline differences impact the acceptance and use of the Internet. Therefore, this study aims to explore knowledge of and attitudes towards the significance of the Internet, when endeavouring to enhance male and female students’ learning at (PAAET) in Kuwait. Furthermore, the impact of gender and discipline differences on such acceptance and use will also be explored at PAAET. The sample selected was a convenience sample, consisting of 30 (15 male and 15 female) pre-service teachers from different backgrounds (i.e. in terms of gender and discipline). A questionnaire was used to collect the data. The findings reveal that there were no differences related to students’ gender on levels of knowledge. However, there were differences related to discipline. Furthermore, the findings show differences between male and female students as regards their attitudes to using the Internet, with the difference in favour of male students. Although it is recognised that the range and generalisability of the study is limited, due to its small and non-representative sample, this study could be considered as an apt initial inroad into the study area, which could be useful in future, providing clues for future research in this specific field.

Abstract: This research focused on the expectations and performance of the key persons to the pre-service training of student teachers, their cooperating teachers, and their supervising instructors. It also looked into the level of expectation and of the key persons to the final requirement of the Bachelor of Elementary Education program, level of performance of the Key persons on their responsibilities as partners in mentoring  the student teachers, and the degree of seriousness of the problems encountered by the key persons to the final requirement of the Bachelor of Elementary Education program. The descriptive evaluative design was used. The instrument used was a questionnaire lifted from the research of Abellana2 . Percentage and ranking and weighted mean were used to treat data gathered.  Student teachers and student supervisors much expected from the cooperating teachers, student teachers also much expected from their supervisors, and the student teachers perceived their cooperating teachers to be performing very good/very satisfactory.

Abstract: A number of commercial banks have registered an unsatisfactory financial performance. This crisis has been related to inefficient credit risk management systems. This research assessed the relationship between credit risk management and banks’ profitability. The guided objectives were the following; to examine how credit risk mitigation system is applied by BPR Ltd, to find out problems faced by credit risk managers of BPR Ltd in Managing credit risk, and to evaluate the relationship between credit risk management and financial performance of BPR Ltd. This study is expected to be significant to all Rwandan banking sectors, Mount Kenya University, Future researchers, and the general public. The study used BPR Ltd Nyagatare branch as a sample to represent other commercial banks in Rwanda, out of 150 staff of Nyagatare branch the researcher took a sample of 50 respondents to represent others. The researcher used a descriptive and analytical research based on both qualitative and quantitative data. Primary data was obtained by extracting information from questionnaires designed to get answers from different respondent composed of BPR Ltd staff from different level. Secondary data were collected from books, journals, newspapers and internet materials. In research data is presented in form of tables, graphics while analysis and interpretation were based on frequencies and percentages. The research found that BPR Ltd has a credit management system though it needs to be reviewed and adopted more to current Rwandan environment. The research found that there is a direct relationship between credit risk management and profitability of commercial banks. The research recommended that BPR Ltd should review and improve its credit policy and adopt it to Rwandan market and context and BPR Ltd should provide continuous training and updates to its staffs.

Abstract: Housing is one of the basic needs of the human after food. In the modern world everyone wants some basic amenities like water and other sanitation facilities. India is developing country with high population over low land area. Houselessness is big problem in India and people are also derivate to basic household amenities. Haryana’s Population also facing same problem but condition of Haryana is comparatively better than other states. The present study attempts to measure the quality of life on the basis of housing and household amenities in Haryana. The study reveals the quality and better household amenities like own house, tap water, electricity, a separate kitchen, closed drainage, L.P.G for cooking fuel, good bathroom (with roof and slab) and latrine (piped sewer system and septic tank) availability are taken. The results show that housing and household amenities conditions are good in all districts of Haryana state.

Abstract:  The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of environmental factors on physical fitness of rural and urban children. Methods: To reveal the differences between physical fitness of children living in urban and rural districts of North 24 parganas West Bengal population, 20 of 9-12 years old, female primary school children from Barasat schools of North 24 Pgs. Testing procedures were selected physical fitness tests. Results: The results showed that body mass index higher in the urban children (p<0.05). In speed, abdominal strength endurance and leg strength were significantly higher in the rural children. Conclusion: The significantly lower speed, abdominal strength endurance and explosive leg strength of urban children may indicate lower habitual physical activity level.

Abstract: A survey containing various questions about the political process in the United States was mailed to 1,000 members of the American Economic Association in an effort to assess economists’ views of the efficacy of public policy formulation in America.  Specifically, propositions were phrased so that we could determine economists’ perceptions of (1) the influence that some outside groups exert on elected officials’ decision-making, (2) some of the circumstances and methods of discourse elected officials rely on to garner constituents’ support for their decisions, and (3) elected officials’ voting conduct and a possible motive underlying that conduct. 302 responses were received and the overwhelming majority indicated they have significant skepticism regarding the federal government’s potential to improve overall economic welfare in the United States.

Abstract: Politics is the main framework by which human rights are enforced both at the domestic and international level. At the domestic level, human rights may influence politics and democratization process through norm installing and behaviour change. It influences, at least, theoretically the way governments treat their citizens and those in political sphere. On the other hand, the nature of the political environment affects the enforcement and protection of human rights. When the political atmosphere is tight and closed, the enforcement of human rights would be in the side-lines.  When the political environment is conducive, it would be amenable for human rights protection and enforcement.

States may adopt human rights for various reasons. The adoption of human rights, whether out of sincerity or cynically, induces norm and behaviour changes even for those states known for their human rights violations. Adoption of human rights as a show for international political diplomacy may ultimately bring an enduring change in political culture that embraces human rights.

At the international level, politics is almost the only means by which human rights are enforced. This is because there is no supra-national judicial body that adjudicates human rights violations. Moreover, the international response to human rights violations is through consultation, criticism and cooperation, and through use of force in some case. In addition to these, human rights issues are practically tied with economic, diplomatic and geopolitical interests at large. Hence, politics as a framework for human rights enforcement is much more important at the international level.

At both levels, the interactions between politics and human rights are two-directional. Both influence each other in different ways and degrees. The degree of politicization, however, differs significantly.

Abstract: This qualitative study explored how social capital impacted victims of the devastating 2013 tropical trough in St. Vincent and the Grenadines as they attempted to rebuild their lives. The study was based on 10 in-depth interviews. The results support the claim that social capital facilitates disaster recovery, but also draws special attention to the individual’s reliance on a spiritual being as a measure of coping with the effects of a natural disaster.

Abstract: This paper focuses on the violence inflicted upon the women in the society. We have analysed the trajectory of variation of violence against women and try to seek out solutions to extirpate the violent attitude of male in the society.

Violence against women in all its forms, physical, sexual and psychological, prevails all over the world. It is the purview of all the social and economic classes, of all the religions and races all over the world. It is an abuse of human rights as it takes a toll on their health and on their being socially and economically strong.

However, violence against women can be reduced significantly by the combined efforts of law, society and women herself. First and foremost, she should not deem herself inferior in any way and from anyone and should not in any case tolerate abusive behavior. Society can also play considerable role by comforting the victims and standing in their support and providing the best solutions to end violence.  Men, in particular, must stand alongside women in this fight against violence. Stringent Laws as Domestic Violence Act 2005, UN Charter for Women Empowerment and many others have already been enforced. But the need of the day is that laws should be implemented promptly as it is rightly said “justice delayed is justice denied”. When the women are empowered they equally participate in the growth and ultimately in the prosperity of the nation and subsequently this will make the world a better place to live in.

Abstract: Each central government strives to create a responsible, transparent and effective local government, which will offer quality services to citizens, while the law defines citizen participation at different levels in the decision making process. In our country inactivity of the citizens at the local level is still present. Citizens are still restrained when it comes to lack or poor quality of public services. We still perceive the holders of state functions as powerful people hard-to-communicate with. On the other hand, public institutions do not involve citizens in policy-making processes, and some state officials even see themselves as owners of the public functions they hold. One would say, despite the legal framework that gives the main directions of citizen participation, there is still a need for developing and organizing capacity for self-organization in the communities in order to encourage and implement initiatives related to the well being of the majority of the citizens.

Abstract: Republic of Macedonia by adopting the Law on Local Self-Government  and Law of the City of Skopje, and the Law on Financing of the Units of Local Self-Government and Law on Balanced Regional Development, has created the base of the system of financing local government units.  Decentralization was another step to the higher development of democracy, more successful state, and transparency in spending public money. Fiscal decentralization is assigning fiscal decision making powers and delegating competencies of local self-government units through a series of reforms for increasing their fiscal autonomy. With Fiscal decentralization appears a problem with intergovernmental transfers.

Abstract: The aim of this study was examine the role of the Kenyan media towards the achievement of the Kenyan vision 2030. It looked at the role of the media in the national development establishing a relationship between the media and the achievement of the Kenyan Vision 2030. The study was set to test the assumption that the role of media in Kenya in national development relies majorly on their sovereignty, independence, and the ability to effectively communicate in a proficient manner: objective, unbiased, just and professional information to both government and the general public. The study therefore seeks to answer the following question: How well has the Kenyan media contributed to national development and the achievement towards the Kenyan vision 2030?

The study focused on only four areas of the media: Radio, television, print and the internet; examining the role of the media in the following arms of development: political, economic and social development in Kenya.

The study reviewed theories relevant to the study and key secondary data, opinions and facts relevant to the study. It followed a purely qualitative approach based on content analysis of local and of studies conducted elsewhere.

Abstract: The aim of the study was to, among other objectives, establish if beneficiary communities make decisions in various parameters in the community driven development approach.The study design was a descriptive ex- post facto cross-sectional survey, which used a non-random sampling technique and both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The sample size was ninety (N-90) for individual interviews and five (N-47) for focus group interviews. The study established that decision making is largely mainstreamed in development processes in the community driven approach and that communities make decisions on some parameters of project components and activities. Additionally, decision-making processes are mainly “representational”. It can be concluded that beneficiary communities make decisions in some aspects and not others in the community driven development approach, as is the case with conventional and top - down approaches. Further, as established by the study, conspicuous lack of decision making by the youth and opinion leaders in development processes in this approach has implications of exclusion, an aspect that negates tenets of people-centred and driven development ideals, a gap which development practitioners need to address.
