Abstract: Risk and return analysis plays a key role in most individual decision making process. The present paper investigates the study on relationship between risk and return of selected stock from two different sectors on NSE with the help of Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM). This empirical paper has been done by analyzing in selected stocks from sectors such as Information Technology and Pharmaceutical sector. Five stocks in each sector have been taken for the sample. Information Technology sector is considered to be one of the fastest growing sectors in any developing and even in a developed country. As global economies are getting integrated, technology companies are finding it an over task to align to the changing realities. In such a scenario, analyzing stocks from the Pharmaceutical sector requires utmost caution and understanding. By analyzing the stocks from two different sectors, investors will find beneficial in which sector to invest. The risk and return analysis linked with any industry reveals the intricacies involved with the particular industry. A study revealed that Information Technology sector showing the positive return and low risk and Pharmaceutical sector showing negative return and high risk during the study period.

Abstract: Multiple murder is a popular topic for many movies, TV series, novels, and other art forms due to its seemingly mysterious nature. However, against the depictions of the perpetrators as being rather charismatic and charming personas, the reality is that they are individuals with serious personality disorders of different types. To correct these misleading public images, this paper introduces a simple classification chart of serial, spree, and mass killers to promote easy understandings of who they are and where they come from. It proposes that three factors decide which symptom the subject falls into on the same continuum.

Abstract: Despite the fact that quality management strategies are thought to be a function of customer satisfaction, it is observed that there exists deficiencies in evidence on the link between quality management strategies and customer satisfaction  in public hospitals context thus pertinence of this study in the public hospitals in Embu County, Kenya. The study aimed to determine quality management strategies on customer satisfaction among public hospitals in Embu County, Kenya. The specific objectives of the study were; to establish the influence of employee training, research and development on customer satisfaction in public hospitals in Embu County, Kenya. The study was anchored on Total Quality Theory and supported by SERVQUAL model and Open System Theory. The study adopted descriptive research design. Target population comprised of 239 respondents whom were employees of public hospitals. The respondents of the study constituted employees of the six level four public hospitals in Embu County. Respondents were stratified into four stratum and simple random sampling technique was used to select respondents from each strata. This study employed Israel formula to arrive at the ideal sample size of 149. The unit of analysis were level four public hospitals and unit of observation were employees of public hospitals in Embu County. Primary data was collected using structured questionnaires. Secondary data was obtained from internal management health reports, related articles and minutes of the organization. Data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics such as regression analysis. Regression analysis was conducted at 95% confidence level and 5% significance level to determine the statistical relationship between variables of the study. The analyzed data was presented descriptively in form of means scores, standard deviation and percentages and frequency tables. The study established that there exist a positive statistical relationship between employee training, research and development on customer satisfaction in public hospitals in Kenya. The study concludes that for competitiveness of public hospitals, employee training, research and development should be considered to be drivers of customer satisfaction. The study recommends that unless public hospitals in Kenya recognize the aspect of employee training and research and development, achieving organizational goals will be a challenging task in the dynamic business environment

Abstract: Developing and developed countries of the world have been relying on revenue collected from the formal and informal sectors to develop the economy. Economic growth among developing countries has been associated with Compliance of Micro and Small Enterprises with VAT. However, despite the role of VAT in economic developments among developing countries, majority of Small Enterprises have continued to evade in complying with VAT thus posing a great challenge to the economies of developing countries. This study aimed at establishing the influence of taxpayers΄ knowledge and value added tax compliance among Micro and Small Enterprises in Embu county, Kenya. The specific objective of the study was to establish the effect of education of taxpayers on VAT compliance among micro and small enterprise in Embu County, Kenya. This study was anchored on rational choice theory. The study adopted cross-sectional research design since it facilitates discovery of new knowledge thus prediction and control of the problem. The target population of the study was 557 micro and small enterprises as per the records of Ministry of Trade in Embu County.  Stratified sampling technique was used to select the sample size of the population. To arrive at the ideal sample size of 233, scientific formula proposed by Israel was adopted. Unit of analysis were owners of registered micro and small enterprises in Embu County while unit of observation were registered micro and small enterprises in Embu County. The primary data was collected using a structured questionnaire consisting of close and open-ended questions. In addition, secondary data was collected using content analysis method. The analysis of data was done using Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS Version 24). Data was analyzed descriptively in form of mean scores, standard deviation, frequency table and percentages.  Further, multiple regression analysis was conducted at 95% confidence level and 5% significance level to establish the statistical relationship between variables. Qualitative data obtained from published content was reviewed and deductive arguments were made in relation to the research objective. The analyzed quantitative data was presented in tables and figures. Findings of this study revealed that there exists a positive significant relationship between education of taxpayers and value added tax compliance among micro and small enterprises in Embu County, Kenya. The study concludes that despite that fact that there exists a positive relationship between taxpayers’ knowledge and value added tax compliance, numerous challenges were experienced such as lack of awareness, complexity of technology and lack of willingness from taxpayers to submit VAT on time. This study recommends that Kenya Revenue Authority should partner with other agencies like ICT firms, County Governments and law reinforcement agencies to promote the spirit of VAT compliance among small scale traders in Kenya, thus sustainable social economic developments.

Abstract: Human rights are fundamental rights applicable to all citizens of the world, irrespective of race, place of birth, religion, caste or gender. Articles 12 to 25 of the Constitution of India protect and guarantee the basic and civil rights of the people. These rights include individual rights common to most liberal democracies, such as equality before the law, freedom of speech and expression, religious and cultural freedom and peaceful assembly, freedom to practice religion, and the right to constitutional remedies. This paper looks at “Media as a defender of Human Rights issues in India: Myth or Reality,” especially in protecting and promoting human rights. It also looks at the media as the cause for violation of human rights, and lastly, media as the mediator in rethinking human rights. The paper will also look at the issues and challenges facing the media in the existing discourse of human rights and media. The word "media" in this paper refers largely to mainstream media or traditional media. The paper will also examine India’s social system particularly casteism and the role of India’s Constitution in safe-guarding the rights of the underprivileged in the society.

Abstract: Today’s feelings of doom around the world are due to our internal negative attitude of compartmentalization and dehumanization, by which we designate an easy scapegoat and avoid facing our own problems. In order to release us from negative entrapment, we need to shift from this undesirable default to a positive new mode of de-compartmentalization and humanization. We must stop blaming others and start facing our own problems by integrating people and the earth into a whole. This is the way we shall attain true internal peace on this finite, organic planet.

Abstract: Human resourcing and retention are among the major concerns facing many firms both in developing and developed countries due to the high rate of employee turnover which continues to make it on the top five lists of challenges whether or not a firm is driven by the desire to improve human resourcing and retention of employees towards achieving better organizational performance. Given this, the primary purpose of this study was to assess the influence of human resourcing strategies on retention of employees in universities in Kenya. The specific objective of the study was: To assess the influence of employer branding strategies on retention of employees in universities in Kenya. The study is likely to aid university management boards and councils, employee unions, Human Resource professionals, researchers and scholars and government in policy formulation for employer branding strategies as a reliable means to improve retention of employees in universities in Kenya. The study adopted descriptive design. The fundamental models shaping this study were the linear regression models. The target population of the study comprised all employees in 70 accredited universities in Kenya with a total population of 50,670 employees. The sample size of the study was 384 respondents chosen by stratified random sampling technique. Questionnaires were the primary data collection tool. Linear regression models were used to analyze the data using SPSS (Version 23) software. The findings of the study were presented using tables and charts. The main findings from the study indicated that employer branding strategies influenced retention of employees in universities in Kenya. Also, this study found that 52.2% of retention of employees in universities in Kenya was explained by the employer branding strategies. Finally the study also contributed to theory and knowledge for humanity. In this study, the most significant factor influencing employee retention in universities in Kenya was focusing on employee relations strategy with P-value standing at .672, then followed by human resource planning strategy with P-value standing at .587, recruitment strategy with P-value standing at .585, career development strategy with P-value standing at .584 and employer branding strategy with P-value standing at .522. However, the study had various limitations among them being lack of objectivity of the respondents and also limited scope regarding sample size. The study concluded that employer branding strategies influenced retention of employees in universities in Kenya and recommended that  top universities management boards and councils  enhance employer branding strategies on retention, make an effort to develop, implement and review a robust employer branding strategy which unites all employees and makes them be known to the world from sharing visual identity by a set of symbols. All universities should ensure their employer branding strategy is done in writing and effectively communicated to all levels of employees of the organization as an employer of choice to enhance awareness in the market.

Abstract: The Syrian Civil War entered its ninth year in 2019. The intractable conflict has been fueled and expanded by the world’s largest military powers supporting their proxies inside Syria, notably the United States and Russia. Russian and American allies have also played pivotal roles; Iran notably took sides with Syria and Russia, while the United Kingdom, France, and large and small Sunni Muslim countries including Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Qatar, and others allied with Western interests against Syrian President Bashir al-Assad and his government. Others in the region play smaller, ancillary roles, such as Lebanon and Israel. Kurds inside and outside Syria have their own motives and desires for independence.

The initial uprising by Syrians who simply wanted to live under democratic rule was usurped by powers large and small, all intent on achieving their own goals and preserving and protecting their own interests. The result of these multiple outside powers has exacerbated the enormous suffering of the Syrian people far beyond what a civil war would have caused, including the death of over one half-million Syrians, many of them civilians, the decimation of cities and towns, the uprooting of millions of people which has created a refugee crisis that has impacted the entire world, the near elimination of the Christian population, the rise of terrorism, and multiple other impacts on the people and culture that will last for generations.

The sample size of the study was 384 respondents chosen by stratified random sampling technique. Questionnaires were the primary data collection tool. Linear regression models were used to analyze data using SPSS (Version 23) software. The findings of the study were presented using tables and charts. The main findings from the study indicated that recruitment strategies influenced retention of employees in universities in Kenya. Also, this study found that 58.5% of retention of employees in universities in Kenya was explained by recruitment strategy. Finally, the study also contributed to theory and knowledge for humanity. However, the most significant factor influencing employee retention in universities in Kenya was focusing on employee relations strategy with P-value standing at .672, then followed by human resource planning strategy with P-value standing at .587, recruitment strategy with P-value standing at .585, career development strategy with P-value standing at .584 and employer branding strategy with P-value standing at .522. However, the study had various limitations among them being lack of objectivity of the respondents and also limited scope regarding sample size. The study concluded that recruitment strategies influenced retention of employees in universities in Kenya and recommended that other human resourcing strategies including providing attractive incentives such as robust medical care, salaries, leave and pension allowances should be considered and implemented by top university management boards and councils in order to improve employee retention. This is likely to boost the employees‟ morale and motivate them to perform their job tasks with zeal thus increasing their productivity and hence enabling the universities in Kenya to achieve their mandate and more enormous competitive advantage.

Abstract: Good employee-employer relations in an organization are necessary because it allows and provides forums and avenues within the organization structure where both parties can meet on a regular basis to ventilate their grievances and iron out their contentious issues. This will likely foster healthy working relationship between the two parties and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organization, thus reducing staff turnover, improve service delivery and ultimately contribute the improved competitiveness of the organization. Given this, the primary purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of employee relations strategies on retention of employees in universities in Kenya. The specific objective of the study was: To analyze the influence of employee relations strategies on retention of employees in universities in Kenya. The study is likely to aid university management boards and councils, employee unions, Human Resource professionals, researchers and scholars and government in policy formulation for employee relations strategies as a reliable means to improve retention of employees in universities in Kenya. The study adopted descriptive design. The fundamental models shaping this study were the linear regression models. Also, this study found that 67.2% of retention of employees in universities in Kenya was explained by the variable under study; finally the study also contributed to theory and knowledge for humanity. The significant factor influencing employee retention in universities in Kenya was focusing on employee relations strategy with P-value standing at .672. However, the study had various limitations among them being lack of objectivity of the respondents and also limited scope regarding sample size. The study concluded that employee relations strategies influenced retention of employees in universities in Kenya and recommended that other employee relations strategies including providing communication channel for employees to channel their grievances towards top management, employee voice to give employee value and employee participation in the affairs for the company. This is likely to boost the employees’ morale and motivate them to perform their job tasks with zeal thus increasing their productivity and hence enabling the universities in Kenya to achieve their mandate and more enormous competitive advantage.
