Abstract: Academic writing, individual or collaborative, is an essential skill for today’s graduates. Unfortunately, managing writing activities and providing feedback to students is very labour intensive and academics often opt out of including such learning experiences in their teaching. We describe the architecture for a new collaborative writing support environment used to embed such collaborative learning activities in engineering courses. In this paper provides tools for managing collaborative and individual writing assignments in large cohorts. It outsources the writing tools and the storage of student content to third party cloud-computing vendors (i.e. Google). We further describe how using machine learning and NLP techniques, the architecture provides automated feedback, automatic question generation and process analysis features.

Abstract: Web Personalization is viewed as an application of data mining and machine learning techniques to build models of user behavior that can be applied to the task of predicting user needs and adapting future interactions with the ultimate goal of improved user satisfaction. We start by providing a description of the personalization process and a classification of the current approaches to Web personalization. We discuss the various sources of data available to personalization systems, the modeling approaches employed and the current approaches to evaluating these systems. Recently a lot of research has been done on personalized applications, which are able to tailor the information presented to individual users. The main goal of these personalized systems is to learn the users needs without asking for it explicitly. In many approaches a web user profile is constructed that help to customize the information presented. Typically, the personal profiles are composed of the browsing data that was collected from the particular users previously. At the present time, such web user profiles already find application in various areas of information retrieval. They are employed to re-rank search results, modify user queries or assist during the retrieval process.

Abstract: Large numbers of data are generated everyday in many organizations. To extract hidden predictive information from large volumes of data, data mining (DM) techniques are needed. Organizations are starting to realize the importance of data mining in their strategic planning and successful application of DM techniques can be an enormous payoff for the organizations. This paper discusses the requirements and challenges of DM, and describes major DM techniques such as statistics, artificial intelligence, decision tree approach, genetic algorithm, and visualization. DM is the search for valuable information in large volumes of data. It is the process of nontrivial extraction of implicit, previously unknown and potentially useful information such as knowledge rules, constraints, and regularities from data stored in repositories using pattern recognition technologies as well as statistical and mathematical techniques. Many companies have recognized DM as an important technique that will have an impact on the performance of the companies.

Title: A Study of Predictive Data Mining Techniques

Abstract: Mobile computing has morphed into a principal form of human communication, business, and social interaction. Unfortunately, the energy demands of newer ambient intelligence and collaborative technologies on mobile devices have greatly overwhelmed modern energy storage abilities. This paper proposes several novel techniques that exploit spatiotemporal and device context to predict device wireless data and location interface configurations that can optimize energy consumption in mobile devices. These techniques, which include variants of linear discriminate analysis, linear logistic regression, non-linear logistic regression with neural networks, k-nearest neighbor, and support vector machines are explored and compared on synthetic and user traces from real-world usage studies. The experimental results show that up to 90% success s full prediction is possible with neural networks and k-nearest neighbor algorithms, improving upon prediction strategies in prior work by approximately 50%. Further, an average improvement of 24% energy savings is achieved compared to state-of-the -art prior work on energy-efficient location sensing.

Abstract: Security and authentication of a person is a crucial part of any industry. There are many techniques used for this purpose. One of them is face recognition. Face recognition is an effective means of authenticating a person. The advantage of this approach is that, it enables us to detect changes in the face pattern of an individual to an appreciable extent. The recognition system can tolerate local variations in the face expression of an individual. Hence face recognition can be used as a key factor in crime detection mainly to identify criminals. There are several approaches to face recognition of which Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Neural Networks have been incorporated in our project. The system consists of a database of a set of facial patterns for each individual. The characteristic features called ‘eigenfaces’ are extracted from the stored images using which the system is trained for subsequent recognition of new images.

Abstract: Data mining is a relatively new field of research whose major objective is to acquire knowledge from large amounts of data. In medical and health care areas, due to regulations and due to the availability of computers, a large amount of data is becoming available. On the one hand, practitioners are expected to use all this data in their work but, at the same time, such a large amount of data cannot be processed by humans in a short time to make diagnosis, prognosis and treatment schedules. The main objective of this paper is to analyze how the data mining can be used in health sector and discusses the importance of resident assessment instrument.

Abstract: Green is the burning topic these days. In this paper, we present a brief overview of Green Computing. Green computing refers to supporting business critical computing needs with least possible amount of power or sustainable computing. This is a new paradigm of designing the computer system which considers not only the processing performance but also the energy efficiency. In the past, the sole focus was on IT equipments, processing power and associated equipment which includes infrastructure, power, cooling and data center space which was always assumed as readily available and affordable. The driving force behind this change comes from the ever growing business computing needs, fast growing burden of energy cost, growing awareness of global warming issues, and increasing sense of national energy security. Here we also provide a review of how IT equipment power consumption across the industry is affecting the industry. It will focus on how equipment power consumption impacts the overall power usage and total cost of ownership and deploy to meet their business needs. It will also briefly cover the general technological trends in the IT industry which are available in the race to meet green computing requirements. So in this paper we depict the need of Green Computing to the society, roads to Green Computing, and the Strategies to implement Green Computing for creating a sustainable environment.

Abstract: Speech recognition (SR) technology has a burgeoning range of applications in education system .Speech recognition (SR) technologies were evaluated in different classroom environments to assist students to automatically convert oral lectures into text. Two distinct methods of SR-mediated lecture acquisition (SR-mLA), real-time captioning (RTC) and post-lecture transcription (PLT), has been developed to increase the word recognition accuracy. Both methods has been compared according to technical feasibility and reliability of classroom implementation, instructors’ experiences, word recognition accuracy, and student class performance. RTC provided near-instantaneous display of the instructor’s speech for students during class. PLT employed a user-independent SR algorithm to optimally generate multimedia class notes with synchronized lecture transcripts and instructor audio for students to access online after class. It has been learnt that PLT provides more word recognition accuracy than RTC. The potential benefits of SR-mLA for students who have difficulty taking notes accurately and independently were discussed, particularly for non-native English speakers and students with disabilities.

Abstract: P2P Network defined, any peer can connect and any peer can disappear the network without the permission of the server. So whatever peers are connecting to the network, they should protect always because many kind of peers are connecting to the web or internet. So this paper provides survey of P2P networks protection opposing malevolent attacks.  Peer-to-Peer network is across this paper we will determine peer-to-peer networks, henceforth we will use the acronym P2P. A P2P network is a network that relies on computing exploitation of its clients slightly than in the network itself. We are investigating various P2P network attacks. This way the clients (peers) will do the fundamental procedures to retain the network going rather than a central server.

Abstract: The Personal Cloud model is a mainstream service that meets the growing demand of millions of users for reliable off-site storage. However, despite their broad adoption, very little is known about the quality of service (QoS) of Personal Clouds. In this paper, we present a measurement study of three major Personal Clouds: DropBox, Box and SugarSync. Actively accessing to free accounts through their REST APIs, we analyzed important aspects to characterize their QoS, such as transfer speed, variability and failure rate. Our measurement, conducted during two months, is the first to deeply analyze many facets of thee popular services and reveals new insights, such as important performance differences among providers, the existence of transfer speed daily patterns or sudden service breakdowns.

Abstract: In this upcoming world, Li-Fi is playing a great role in the communication field. Li-Fi stands for Light Fidelity. In Li-Fi, the data can be transmitted through LED light. Li-Fi might be used in approximately each site where system prohibits the uses of Wi-Fi. The downside of Li-Fi is that light-weight cannot tolerate the objects, consequently if the receiver is unknowingly blocked in any manner. To overcome this we are using many existing techniques. Visible light will also be used, in which Li-Fi provides wireless covered and enclosed contact. This is the best technique. Visible Light Communication (VLC) is a kind of method which can also be used for this purpose. Visible light communication (VLC) make use of the fast pulsation.. So the utilization becomes more and the work gets finishes at a low rate or we can say this is the best technology.
