Abstract: The global pandemic has prompted many to adopt videos as an educational tool in both online and offline settings. With these educational challenges, this study aims to identify the effects on students' performance when incorporating educational videos in teaching literature to third-year Education students major in English. A quasi-experimental research design was employed and a total population sampling method was utilized, along with the toss coin method to assign respondents to either the control or experimental group. The study was conducted for four weeks through face-to-face classes. The results indicate that incorporating videos as a learning tool has a noteworthy effect on the academic achievements of students in the field of literature. The post-test scores of students who utilized videos as a learning tool were higher compared to those who used traditional teaching methods. The academic performance outcomes of both the experimental and control groups were not influenced by their respective profiles, including age, gender, access to multimedia at home, and the educational background of their parents. This study recommends incorporating videos as a learning tool in teaching literature to support and motivate students to enhance their knowledge and skills.

Abstract: Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) has changed government service delivery in the 21st century (M. A. Mamun & Begum, 2018). The provision of public services is a top priority for governments. The current Bangladeshi government is aware of this reality and has implemented ICT-based Union Digital Centre (UDC), district, and upazila web portals to provide people faster, easier services as part of developing "Digital Bangladesh” (Hosen et al., 2022). This research's primary objective is to integrate citizens into the larger e-government system. This article's primary purpose is to examine the role of UDC in empowering rural communities and to identify the main challenges of e-service delivery via UDC to local populations. This study utilized both primary and secondary data to achieve its objectives. The study's overall findings suggest that UDCs have the ability to empower the rural community, but it also shows that the poor and marginalized groups are not highly engaged with the services offered by UDCs, which puts them far behind the target of empowerment.

Abstract: The kinetic studies on the removal of Safranin O by adsorption onto Phosphorous (V) oxy chloride treated fruit waste has been studied in this work. The parameters studied are agitation time, initial dye concentration, adsorbent dose, pH and temperature.The kinetic data were fitted to the pseudo second order,Elovich  models. The equilibrium data are fitted to the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm equations. The adsorption of dye increased with increase in temperature from 302K to 322K indicated the process endothermic and spontaneous. Desorption studies show that adsorption of dye on fruit waste is chemisorpic.

Abstract: The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends the use of tenofovir as part of first line regimen for the management of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). Tenofovir can be nephrotoxic necessitating renal function assessment before its commencement.  This may be a challenge in resource poor settings. Clinical Prediction Tools (CPT) for kidney dysfunction have been developed and can help to determine patients who will not require creatinine testing. For this study, data were obtained from HIV patients and analysed using three CPTs. Using a cut-off of ≥ 2 for Primary CPT and BMI CPT, 3.3% of the patients will not require creatinine testing before treatment, and for Alternate CPT, 26.4% of the patients will not require creatinine tests. The preferred CPT for our patients is the Alternate CPT because the proportion of patients who will not require creatinine testing is comparable with its prediction.

Abstract: This research briefly reviews some of 3M's early environmental protection initiatives, beginning with its innovative Pollution Prevention Pays (PPP) programme, which was launched in 1975. The corporation formally intensified its attention on sustainability in the 2010s, at which point it created the Strategic Sustainability Framework with 15 sustainability goals for 2025. After conducting strategic consultations with more than 50 stakeholder groups, 3M claimed to have established the targets. Because of its reputation as an inventive firm, 3M understood that it needed to concentrate on technologies that would lessen environmental effect and allay growing consumer worries about the environment if it wanted to continue producing innovative goods. The case then details 3M's "Sustainability Value Commitment" (SVC) for all new products, under which the company aimed to create goods that addressed social problems as well as environmental ones. 3M considered the selection of raw materials while designing products and packaging while keeping circular economy ideas in mind. Additionally, in order to support its efforts in sustainability and corporate social responsibility, the company tried to obtain raw materials in an ethical manner and even used supply chain digitalization.

Abstract: Soil health management for sustaining crop productivity is a major challenge of recent years to meet the food demand and nutritional security of increasing population. Nutrient are chemical elements that are essential for the growth of plants as well as fertility of soil. The beneficial role of various elements added to soil for the improvement of plant growth has been known in agriculture for more than 2000 years. For effective management of soil quality, assessment of soil health and periodic monitoring is foremost important step. The mineral composition of various plants growing in soil cannot always be used as criterion for establishing the essential or non-essential nature of an element. The plant nutrients are divided into macronutrients and micronutrients. The essentiality of micro nutrient is proved long before the role in crop production was recognized.

In this connection, the soil quality status of Neemuch district of Madhya Pradesh was assessed. The developed soil quality assessment protocol is very simple and can be easily adoptable. Periodic monitoring and assessment of (at least once in five years) of soil quality status can be very useful for enhancing crop productivity and sustaining soil health of the region.

Abstract: The Philippines attained the lowest position in terms of reading comprehension among the other countries (Caraig & Quimbo, 2022). This significant observation emphasizes the need to assess lexical knowledge's impact on reading comprehension. Consequently, the aim of this study is to evaluate the lexical knowledge and reading comprehension abilities of 4th-year Education students, while also investigating the correlation between these two dimensions. A total of 109 4th-year students, including 38 BSED and 71 BEED students, participated in the study. Data were collected through a survey questionnaire consisting of 60 questions, with half dedicated to lexical knowledge and the other half to reading comprehension. The results indicate a positive correlation between higher lexical knowledge and reading comprehension skills, suggesting a significant relationship between the two. The findings underscore the importance of emphasizing lexical knowledge as it enhances students' understanding and comprehension of written texts, and contributes to their proficiency in spoken English. In conclusion, this study highlights the significance of lexical knowledge in enhancing students' reading comprehension abilities and emphasizes the importance of targeted lexical development to improve language skills and overall academic performance.

Abstract: Offshore oil and gas operations are inherently risky, and human error is a major contributing factor to accidents. Risk assessment is a critical component of offshore safety management, and there is a growing body of literature on this topic, with a particular focus on collisions between offshore support vessels (OSVs) and offshore installations. This literature review provides an overview of the current state of offshore risk assessment, with a specific emphasis on human errors and their underlying factors. The review highlights the strengths and weaknesses of existing approaches to risk assessment, and identifies future directions in the field. The review provides a scope of the literature, and also defines the key terms and concepts. Overall, the paper emphasizes the importance of addressing human factors in offshore risk assessment, and the need to continuously improve risk assessment models to ensure the safety of personnel, environment and assets.

Abstract: This project studies the use of environmental management systems (EMS) in the United Kingdom. Environmental management systems are set of standards and guidelines that provide a framework to the companies to improve their environmental practices. The international standards ISO 14001 and EU standards EMAS are the main competitors in the marketplace. The process of developing an EMS requires conformity to environmental and legal aspects. The impact of EMS on the company’s performance is improving the financial sector and public image of that company.

Analysis of the current trends of EMS in the UK and worldwide was carried out to provide a justification of the low uptake. The study was based on the number of certification with respect to population, GDP, ecological footprint and the total number of registered companies. It was found out that Scandinavian countries have the highest level of awareness of the importance of the conservation of environment.

The difference in the uptake between EMAS and ISO 14001 in the UK was highlighted. ISO 14001 is more popular due to its affordable costs and international status. However, EMAS has a better environmental performance as it strictly emphasizes on environmental aspects and requires continual improvement.

The major drivers of EMS are legislation and costumer requirements. Governments exert a great influence on the uptake of EMS. Nevertheless, small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) showed lack of awareness of the significance of EMS and absence of customers’ pressure. On the other hand, the major barriers of EMS are the management time and costs of implementation, certification and maintenance.

Abstract: Private and public schools are partners in the delivery of quality education in the Philippines. In order to decongest overcrowded public junior high schools, the government provided the Educational Service Contracting (ESC) and the Teachers’ Salary Subsidy (TSS) programs as its commitment to maintain the viability of private education. Hence, this study was conducted to ascertain the outcome and impact of ESC program to school performance of the private schools. The participants of this study were the school heads, teachers, parents and ESC recipient graduate of ESC schools in the First District of Iloilo, Philippines. The instruments used in this study is composed of interview questions pertaining to the success stories of the ESC recipient graduates. This study employed the qualitative method of research. Thematic analysis (Braun & Clark) was used to determine the impact of ESC program to students’ academic quest, as well as to determine the challenges, concerns or issues in the implementation of the ESC program. Based on the findings of this study, various themes as to the impact, challenges, issues and concerns of ESC program were identified and formulated.

Abstract: San Jose del Monte, Philippines, has been a resettlement area for decades and is now one of the country's most highly urbanized cities, aiming to offer tourist destinations, but not enough research has been conducted to acknowledge and analyze the city's historical progress and development. After reviewing previous research about the resettlement area of San Jose del Monte and other reports in the city, the main contention of this study is the urban growth and tourism development of San Jose del Monte, which resulted from population growth, history, the economy and financial market, tourism, and some infrastructure projects made by the public and private sectors. The study also used the stakeholder’s theory to identify, categorize, and analyze their powers. With that, it is found out that the urban transformation of the city from being a resettlement area to a tourist destination is a result of different efforts and manifestations brought by the government, entrepreneurs, religious organizations, residents, and tourists. The study also included recommendations for the government as well as for future researchers.

Abstract: Reading English for beginners is a complex task that requires employing effective strategies to make it easier and exciting for the students. One of the strategies is the use of a systematic approach of sound-letter correspondences or phonics system. Several researches have confirmed the efficacy of the use of phonics systems as compared to other teaching methods in reading such as the whole language method for early learners or those who have English as second language. Even the US Department of Education regarded phonics as an essential part of reading process among beginners. At present, it is widely used in different reading programs targeting beginners. This paper will discuss the importance of phonics in English language particularly in reading lessons as well the vocal tract configuration of using phonics. Using different literature and previous empirical studies about the effect of phonics on reading to determine and confirm the importance of phonics system in ready, this paper will help in validating the significant contribution of phonics system in helping students learn how to read and recognize texts.
