Abstract: This research is conducted with a background of the need for fast, cheap and comfortable transportation which can be provided by taxies with online applications. To increase the usage of this transportation service, trust must be created in order to attract consumers to use the online taxi service again. The aim of this research is to explain the role of trust in mediating the relationship between experience and the intention to use online taxi in Denpasar City.

This research utilize the quantitative approach, and is a causality study. The respondents of this research are the people of Denpasar City who have used online taxi services at least 2 times over the past six months. The sample size is 110 people which was determined using the purposive sampling technique. The data analysis technique used is SEM with the partial least square approach.

The research result shows that experience has a positive and significant influence on reuse intention of online taxies in Denpasar City. Trust has a role as a partial mediator in the relationship between experience and reuse intention of online taxies in Denpasar City.

The implication of this research for taxi businesses is to consistently provide good services to gain customer’s trust and increase the intention to reuse online taxi services.

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of financial risk on financial performance of Supermarkets in Nairobi County. The specific objectives of the study will included; To examine the effect of credit risk, liquidity risk, operational risk and market risk on financial performance of supermarkets in Nairobi county, Kenya. The study adopted the finance distress theory, Firm value maximization theory and extreme value theory. The study used a descriptive research design with a quantitative approach. The target population for this study was 13 large-scale supermarkets licensed by county government of Nairobi. Study employed sampling as a census of entire large-scale supermarkets in Nairobi County. Secondary data for this study was collected using data collection sheets filled by accountants of various super markets Nairobi County. Multi regression analysis was used to establish the effect of financial risk on financial performance of supermarkets in Nairobi County. The findings of the study showed that out of the four financial risks studied, three including liquidity, operational and market risks had statistically significant effect on financial performance of large-scale supermarkets in Kenya liquidity risk. Credit risk did not have a significant effect on financial performance of the supermarkets studied.

Abstract: The study seeks to determine the effect of investment portfolio on financial performance of Deposit Taking Savings and Credit Cooperatives (DT-SACCOs) in Kenya. The study used the modern portfolio theory. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. The target population was the 135 DT-SACCOs that were licensed before the study period and have operated for last five years of the study. The chief finance officers of each SACCO were required to fill the questionnaires. Data was analysed with the help of SPSS version 23. Descriptive and inferential statistics was used to analyse data. The descriptive statistics involved frequency, mean and standard deviation. The inferential statistics involved bivariate correlation and multivariate regression analysis. The study findings indicated that the Investment portfolio had a statistically significant effect on financial performance of DT-SACCOs in kenya.Study therefore fore concludes that investment portfolio diversification has a significant effect on finacial performance of DT-SACCOs in Kenya. The study recommends that management of Deposit taking Sacco’s should continue improving on their investment portfolio diversification by bringing in more financial products to the portfolio.

Abstract: The purpose of the study was meant to analyze the factors influencing the implementation of outsourcing strategy in an organization. The general objective of this study was to establish the determinants of implementation of outsourcing strategy in public entities in Kenyan public sector: a case of Garissa Level Five Hospital. The specific objectives of the study were to evaluate the influence of competitive bidding on implementation of outsourcing strategy; examine the influence of procurement planning on implementation of outsourcing strategy; access the influence of lead time on implementation of outsourcing strategy and evaluate the influence of procurement procedures on implementation of outsourcing strategy. A census method was adopted were all the 40 staff involved in procurement department where issued with questionnaires. Data collection was analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistical tools an SPSS version 22.0 was used to process the collected data which was then to be presented in form of tables. Correlation analysis was used to describe the strength of the linear relationship between the two variables. The findings of the study revealed that the research variables; competitive bidding, procurement planning, lead time and procurement procedures plays a significant influence on implementation of outsourcing strategy in Public entities. The study recommends that, organizations should adopt outsourcing s a strategic initiative to enhance competitiveness, performance and responsiveness of the various processes. The management should provide the required through monitoring and control of the quality of service delivery to realize the designed benefits of cost reduction, improved efficiency and customer satisfaction by effectively managing the contracted party. It is also recommends that management outsources process that exhibit high manpower costs and demonstrate inefficiency in the various levels of the value chain. These shall deliver cost leadership through effective contract management. It also recommends that outsourcing should not only be subjected to the traditionally non- core activities, but the whole of those activities that a third party van deliver at lower costs than can be done in house, with adequate management control on quality of delivery considering best selection method, good procurement planning, shortening the lead time and ensuring it follow the right procurement procedures put in place in order to achieve cost reduction and customer satisfaction.

Abstract: Cowpea is a common source of protein in most Nigerian homes. The leguminous herbaceous crop has several nutritional benefits such as high source of healthy carbohydrates and protein content of about 25-35% in addition to Vitamins B1, B2, B6 and B9 and other essential amino acids. It also prevents cancer and has muscle and tissue healing qualities. In Nigeria, cowpea is majorly produced and distributed by Northern States of Borno, Adamawa, Kano, Sokoto, Gombe and Jigawa where the weather is dry, with minimal rainfall and supports the cultivation of the crop. The produce is bagged and transported to the Southern States where it is considered a delicacy. Unfortunately, in recent times, these Northern States have experienced series of unrest from the Boko haram crisis to the most recent clashes between herdsmen and farmers which have left many farms fallow with little to no cultivation as many farmers have fled for their lives. This in addition to unstable rainfalls required for the vegetative growth of cowpea has led to a drop in yield. This paper seeks to review changes in the market price of cowpea across Nigeria as a result of the aforementioned; how this affects production and distribution of the produce, reaction of farmers and consumers and how the current situation could be managed.

Title: A REVIEW OF CHANGES IN PRICE OF COWPEA IN NIGERIA

Abstract: The study sought to determine the extent to which access to microcredit was a significant predictor of growth of microenterprises in Tanzania. A descriptive survey was conducted to applied to gather data from clients and employees of Vision Fund Microfinance. Data was collected from a sample of 80 participants who comprised of microenterprise owners, credit officers and credit committee members selected through stratified random sampling. A semi-structured questionnaire was utilized as a means of data collection. Before it’s administration the instrument had been checked for face and content validity, and its internal consistency determined through Cronbach alpha. Logistic regression was conducted to assess if credit access was a significant predictor of the likelihood of microenterprises growth. The study revealed that credit access accounted for 23.3% variance in growth of microenterprises (Nagelkerke R2=.23). The results indicated that credit access was a significant significant predictor of growth of microenterprises (ß =3.096, Wald’s χ2= 7.96, df=1, p=<.05. This implies that odds of predicting the likelihood of growth of microenterpises improves by .05 units for each unit increase in access of credit facilities. In conclusion, microcredit access is a key ingredient to growth of microenterprises. In order to improve upon access to credit access, MFIs (microfinance institutions) should look on possibilities of reducing costs of microcredit to make it accessible to entreprenuers. This would include but not limited to diversification of credit services and reviewing collateral requirements.

Abstract: The objective of the study was to determine the effect of e-procurement on strategic sourcing in Saccos in Kenya: a case of Unitas Sacco. Specifically, the study sought to identify the effect of e-tendering, e-informing, e-sourcing on the strategic sourcing process at Unaitas, Kenya. The research was guided by three theories; namely dynamic capability theory, innovation of diffusion theory and transaction cost theory. A descriptive research design was employed and to determine how e-procurement impacts on the strategic procurement process. The research target population was 417 employees working at Unaitas head office. A questionnaire was the main data collection instrument in which both open and closed ended questions was used. A drop and pick later method was used to administer the questionnaires to the respondents. Upon data being collected, it was cleaned to remove any inconsistencies after which data was analyzed using descriptive measures of mean and standard deviation. The research further employed regression model to establish the relationship between e-procuring and strategic sourcing. The study established that the Sacco had improved its just-in-time purchasing practice and that the Sacco had been able to send requests for information and prices via the internet technology. The study found that the e-informing had facilitated regular communication among departments. The study established that the firm published more information about the Sacco through the e-procurement system and this increased transparency in the organization. The study established that the Sacco e-procurement system had facilitated processing of electronic invoices with integration to suppliers' supply chains and buyers' financial systems. The Sacco was found to be able, courtesy of e-procurement, to access preferred suppliers' products and services online and purchase the same directly. Further, the study established that e-sourcing procurement tools had enhanced visibility of potential suppliers and this has increased the level of transparency as well as reduce the costs of managing purchasing processes increasing economies. The study recommended the need to enhance e –procurement through reducing costs to minimize the complexity of the procurement process. The study also recommended that there was need to improve e- tendering which enhances just-in-time purchasing practice and send requests for information and prices via the internet technology in the Sacco.

Abstract: Liquidity management is among the four cardinal decision areas of financial management that requires careful handling and planning for a business enterprise to be successful and profitable. Saving and Credit Cooperative Societies face a risks arising from liquidity shortage and this has been a major cause of failure of many financial cooperatives. This study sought to examine the influence of liquidity management on profitability of deposit taking SACCO in Kakamega County. The specific objective was to determine the influence of liquidity decision practices on profitability of deposit taking SACCO in Kakamega County. The study adopted descriptive survey design. The study targeted 11 Deposit taking SACCOs in Kakamega County. Forty seven managers were sampled using census sampling technique. Primary data was collected using structured questionnaire. Validity was achieved through content validity while reliability was achieved through Cronbach alpha (0.841). Data was analyzed descriptively using frequencies, Mean, Standard deviation and percentage while Pearson Correlation Coefficient and simple linear regression with aid of SPSS version 22 generated inferential statistics. The data was presented in form of tables and regression models. The results revealed liquidity decision practices significant influence profitability of deposit taking SACCOs in Kakamega County. Liquidity management practices account for 66.3% significant variance in profitability (R square =.663, P=0.000). Therefore, the study concluded that liquidity decision practices have significant influence on the profitability of deposit taking SACCOs in Kakamega County. The study also recommended that SACCOs should acquire quality human resource so as to come up with sound liquidity decisions.

Abstract: Malaysia is blessed with abundant resources. The rapid development of the country since independence was mainly supported by the use of natural resources. Over the past six decades, Malaysia has evolved from a primary economy dependent on mining, rubber and oil palm plantation, to manufacturing-based secondary economy, morphing into a service-based tertiary economy. Natural resources have served the nation well as the growth engine. For the benefits of the existing, as well as the future generations, it is crucial for the country to embark on green growth.  To support this development strategy, green technology has been identified to catalyse sustainable economic growth. Green technology is cross-sectoral in nature, which presents a solution in balancing the needs for economic development and our responsibility towards the environment. Abstract: Research has accumulated a stock of knowledge on the importance of supply chain integration (SCI), but little is known about its worth in public health supply chains. For over a decade now the Kenyan government has considerably increased funding to the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) but logistical shortcomings and weak links in the health supply chain have greatly hampered the performance of the health supply chain. This study sought to establish the relationship between SCI and organizational performance of public health supply chains using the case of KEMSA. Specifically, the study examined the effect of supplier integration, internal integration, customer integration and information integration on organizational performance. The study was anchored on Process-Based Management Theory, Network Theory, Stakeholder Theory and Transaction Cost Theory. Stratified random sampling technique was used to obtain the sample size of ninety three (93) respondents from various departments of the organization. Primary data was collected through research questionnaire whereas secondary data was obtained from the company’s website and from the ministry of public health. Findings from the research revealed that supplier integration, internal integration and customer integration have a positive and statistically significant effect on organizational performance. Information integration was found not to have significant influence on organizational performance. Results also showed that the effect of the overall supply chain integration dimensions have positive and statistically significant effect on organizational performance. This study contributes to theory and practice by establishing that Process based-management, stakeholder theory and transaction cost theory are elaborate in describing supply chain integration from an organization point of view. The study also makes contribution to public management practice by establishing that supplier integration, internal integration and customer integration complements organizational performance.

Abstract: In the current years the government of Kenya has invested huge sums of money on education annually since it recognizes the importance of education for personal and economic development. This huge investment in secondary schools by the government, parents and sponsors calls for proper use and control since it’s essential for schools’ operations. The general objective of this study was to find out the factors affecting financial management effectiveness in public secondary schools in Kenya and to provide practical recommendations for improving the effectiveness of the public secondary schools financial management system. The specific objectives were; To determine how financial competence affects financial management effectiveness of public secondary school in Kenya, To determine the effect of budget control on financial management effectiveness of public secondary school in Kenya and lastly To establish the effect of auditing on financial management effectiveness in public secondary schools in Kenya. The study adopted descriptive research design. The target population for the study was all the 40 public secondary schools in Gatanga sub-county. A census of all the schools was considered and primary data was collected by use of questionnaires and structured interviews. Collected data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and OLS regression model. The findings were presented using tables and percentages. The study established that specifically financial competence, budget control and auditing had statistically significant effect on financial management effectiveness of secondary schools in Gatanga sub-county. The study therefore concluded that these factors had a statistically significant effect on financial management effectiveness of secondary schools in Gatanga sub-county. The recommendations given were; education regulators should ensure that accounting officers have adequate knowledge and skills necessary to manage school funds through organizing periodic relevant training on financial management for the principles. Budgeting should be done objectively with proper forecasts involving all the stakeholders. Every secondary school should have an operational budget in place with strong controls in place. Auditors should be independent and not have personal interests when doing their work. There should be more auditors to enhance frequent auditing of schools as the current number is seriously in adequate. Principals and accounts clerks/bursars should go for frequent training on auditing techniques. The study findings will help the government as policy makers and financiers of institutions in strengthening financial management policies and procedures to ensure that the objective of financial management is achieved and also enhance financial control measures. It will help schools management to improve their financial management practices.

Abstract: The main purpose of this study was to establish the effects of supplier relationship management on organizational performance. Effective supplier relationship management has become a vital valuable way of securing competitive advantage and improving on organizational performance. This is because competition in modern business world is no longer between organizations, but among supply chains. The study was guided by the following research objectives, to determine effect of adversarial supplier, effect of partnership supplier relationship, effect of supplier development relationship and effect of electronic sourcing relationship on procurement performance at Kenya Pipeline Company Limited. Procurement performance is crucial in enhancing the performance of organizations because whatever gets measured gets done. The study was achieved through use of the following theories commitment operational principles theory, theory of constraints, organizational buying behavior theory and resource based approach theory.

The study employed descriptive and inferential research design methods. The target population for the study was 410 employees of Kenya Pipeline Company limited from respective departments. The sample size was 123 which was arrived at by using slovin’s formula from the target population. The study adopted also quantitative research design. The study used both primary and secondary data in collection of data from the respondents which helped them ascertain the results. Data collection was done using questionnaire method. The researcher used pilot testing of 10% to ascertain the validity and reliability for the results for the study. Data analysis and interpretation was based on descriptive statistics as well as inferential statistics mainly regression analysis and Pearson correlation which was employed during analysis of data. Data analysis was analyzed by using statistical packaging social sciences version 22. Data presentation was done through frequency distribution of tables. From the findings results the independent variables adversarial supplier, partnership, supplier development and electronic sourcing have strong significant relationship with the dependent variable (procurement performance). From the study conclusions it is evident that adversarial supplier, partnership, supplier development and electronic resources are key determinants of procurement performance in an organization. It is recommended that in order to boost the morale of the supply chain unit, management of Kenya Pipeline Company Limited should involves suppliers in design of projects and  programmes for the benefits of the organization. The study revealed that cooperating with our suppliers is beneficial to organization in regards to long term relationships. The study therefore recommends that organization puts more emphasize openness of communication between supplier and organization suppliers. Performance in any given organization is used as indicator for measuring the capability of the organization on how it can run its activities. It is recommended that oil firm’s stakeholders and policy makers have to strategize on vibrant strategies and policies that initiate and promote performance of the organization.

Abstract: This study is aimed at empirically examines the influence of VAT on price stability in Nigeria using partial equilibrium analysis. We introduced the VAT variable in the framework of a combination of structural, monetary and fiscal approaches to inflation modelling. The analysis was carried out by the application of multiple regression analysis in static form to data for the period of 1994-2016. The results however show that VAT has a strong upward effect on price levels, most likely due to the burden of VAT on intermediate outputs. The study rules out the option of VAT exemptions for intermediate outputs as a solution, due to the difficulty in distinguishing between intermediate and final outputs. Hence it can be concluded that tax should be regressive and not progressives, or better still it should be proportional.

Abstract: One of the sector that is regarded as part of the contributors to the growth of the overall economy of Nigeria is the Agricultural sector. This is despite the low yields, inputs and lack of adequate full attention on the sector by the government in time past as a result of oil sector being the major area of interest of the government. This study aimed at examining the impact of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) on economic growth in Nigeria.

Secondary source of data was employed of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the period of 2008-2018. It was revealed that agricultural sector has the potential of contributing positively to the overall Gross Domestic Product, there by leading to economic growth in Nigeria. This paper also shows that agricultural sector in today’s economy of Nigeria has taken back its position of being a key sector of the economy that it use to be before the drastic shift from Agriculture to focusing on oil sector as the determinant of the growth Gross Domestic Product (GDP) level in Nigeria.

Abstract: Sorghum farming is one of the strategies that have been used for decades to alleviate poverty by addressing household food security globally. However, the full potential of the sorghum for household and industrial uses has not been harnessed in Kenya. The purpose of the study was to assess the effectiveness of sorghum farming in addressing household food security in Nyakach Sub-County of Kisumu County, Kenya.  The study targeted a population of 29,000 small-scale farmers in 5 wards that cultivate both sorghum and maize at the same time besides other crops. The sample size of 395 was computed using Yamane Taro’s (1967) simplified formula for sample sizes. Systematic sampling procedure was used to select head of households by dividing the total population of each stratum (ward) by the sample size of each stratum (ward). Kisumu County, Nyakach Sub-County, the wards and the key informants (local administration, National and county staff, village elders, extension officers, NGOs) were purposively selected. Structured questionnaires, observation checklists, focus group discussion and community vulnerability assessment schedules were used to obtain information from heads of farming households. Interview guides was used for both heads of households and informants’ while SWOT analysis guides was mainly used to interview key informants’.This study found out that sorghum farming effectiveness in addressing household food security depended on acreage under sorghum, yield, stock, income from sorghum, uses/benefits/versatility, source of employment and ability to adapt to the two extreme weather conditions of floods and drought.  This paper recommends increase acreage under sorghum, formation of sorghum farmers cooperative society for credit facilities, empowerment of farming households in sorghum farming. In addition, stakeholders should encourage sorghum and sorghum products consumption and value addition such as baking bread, bans and cookies that can create community markets for sorghum and sorghum by-products.
