Abstract: The use of dinar and dirham is increasingly attracting interest from the society in Malaysia. Dinar and dirham have their own uniqueness, such as inflation-proof and a good store of value. According to the appropriateness of current technology and the wish of several politicians, gold could be used as a valuable measuring tool and consequently, could be implemented on part of a certain community (Bedjo Santoso, Ahamed Kameel Mydin Meera & Khaliq Ahmad, 2017). Thus, this article is written to study community involvement in ennobling dinar and dirham. Therefore, this study applies a qualitative methodology approach. A literature review was done to acquire data about dinar and dirham, and towards the establishment of a community dinar and dirham. The finding discovers that the community of dinar and dirham has to be to ennoble and elevate dinar and dirham as Shariah currency. Furthermore, the Muslim community is very important and plays an important role to garner common support in resuming the use of Islamic currency.

Abstract: Rural economies and societies are changing constantly and rapidly, affected by the developmental schemes and modernization. It is not just the physical appearance of rural space that has changed but there is also changes in intangible qualities like the sense of community, solidarity and social disorder. The growth of the cities is absorbing villages surrounding the cities, migration from rural to urban areas and high population growth in the cities which is experiencing significant and several impacts on the environment.This paper explores the changes in the livelihood strategies of small and marginal farmers of Eralibill village in Dimapur district, Nagaland, who have been living in a symbiotic relationship with the environment. The explosive growth of population and the onslaught of modernity have put a tremendous strain on the sustainability of traditional methods of livelihood, thus forcing the people to adapt alternative means. The study is based mainly on qualitative data obtained from interviews and discussions with the Village Council members, leaders of different organizations and with the members of the rural communities. The study try to gain an understanding at a broader level about the relationship between the natural resources and the livelihoods of the local people and throwing light on the nature and extent of impacts of urban intrusion on this relationship. The study revealed that the livelihoods-security of the most vulnerable sections has been severely threatened with the erosion of the availability to the local natural resources.

Abstract:  There has been a growing concern on the negative impacts of the activities of multinational corporations on the environment coupled with the lack of environmental consciousness on the part of the citizens which has caused several dangers on the flora and fauna. The study is an examination of the role of Multinational Corporations (MNCs) on the state of environment in Nigeria using Forsgren’s institutionalization theory. The methodology used in this study is mainly the analysis of secondary data from journals, literatures and documentaries. Findings from the study reveal that MNCs in Nigeria focus their energy on making profit at the expense of human well-being and the environment. This is a strong gesture against a holistic sustainable development which ought not to be devoid of the human person’s well-being which is against the ethics of labour and human rights. The study recommends inter alia that there is need for the government to put into consideration environmental impact mitigation in order to enhance means of livelihood. Oil companies should develop an effective culture of spill detection and implement clean-up of the affected communities; It is important that the government ensure an effective delivery of duty by the Department of Petroleum Resources (DRP) especially to see that the Global Memorandum of Understanding (GMoU) signed by the multinational corporations and their host communities are implemented to the later; International oil companies (IOCs) and government should engage members of the host communities in the management of natural resources to ensure a peaceful coexistence.

Abstract: Fishing is one of the oldest occupations that is closely related to the socio-economic development and it comes next to agriculture.  It plays a major role in the sustainable livelihoods and poverty reduction in an economy. The basic requirement of economic growth of any country is the development of the primary sector. The major component in the primary sector comprises agricultural activities and allied sectors such as fisheries, forestry, and poultry, dairy and mining.

Fish and fishing communities are inseparable from the main stream as they contribute much to the regular food habits of common man and economic activities of the people in the country. It has been undertaken as a powerful income and employment generator as it encouraged growth of several subsidiary industries. It is a source of foreign exchange too. This paper is an attempt to review the interregional comparison of poverty and deprivation among the active marine fisher folk of Kerala.

Abstract: Substance abuse at any age can cause serious health effects, but teens who abuse drugs are at risk for negative consequences. teenager often experiment with a variety of activities and substance. unfortunately this experimentation can also lead to substance abuse and addiction. Teens who abuse drugs are more likely to struggle with addiction later in life and have permanent and irreversible brain damage. drug abuse plays a role in many major problem, such as drugged driving, violence, stress and child abuse. Hence, destructing the moral values of young generation. In our state Manipur, the problem of substance abuse is not new and almost everybody is aware of it. However it is not known how far the people are really aware of the problem, particularly substance abuse by adolescence. Thus there is an urgent need of conducting the awareness level of students towards substance abuse.

Abstract: The brick field in Diamond Harbour Block 1 has been set up for nearly 60 to 80 years ago, the silted topography of the region is uniquely suited for making bricks from long historical past but brick production in this area is highly labour-intensive. The research methodology follow in this paper are mainly descriptive survey types. The writer give a brief description of socio-economic condition and occupational hazards of brick kiln workers. There are 12 brick kilns in the Diamond Harbour block I. In the Primary questionnaire survey all data are collected from the kiln owner, manager, labour and observing the situation try to find out proper remedies.

Abstract: It is paramount to note the impact of environmental pollution to human beings. The key intention is to identify the causes of these diseases and create prevention schemes that would incorporate diminishing exposure to environmental pollution. In this article, a detailed overview and analysis of the different types of environmental pollution is highlighted in order to provide some clarification. These factors will be analysed from a global perspective in a way of relating our topic to the rest of the world. The African perspective allows us to depict commonalities on issues such as health promotions programs and community education. Scaling down, the analysis of environmental issues to Kenya provides a specific context given its rich biodiversity and variety of ecosystems.

Abstract: The present study was conducted to study the level of mental health among the mothers whose children have either Autism disorder or Down syndrome. The mental health of mothers, who are primary care givers of these ‘special’ children is of great importance. The review of literature collected was compared to the present study. The tool selected for this research was Mental health inventory developed by Jagadish and A.K Srivastava. Totally 60 subjects were taken for this study and disturbed as 30 mothers of children with Autism disorder and 30 mothers of children with Down syndrome. Purposive sampling technique was used for collecting the data.

The validity of the tool has been, already established by the author. The pilot study was conducted on 30 subjects (15 mothers of children with Autism and 15 mothers of children with Down syndrome) to test the reliability of the tool. Fifteen hypothesis were formulated for collecting and analyzing the data. The data collection was done in four ‘special’ schools. They were located at Alwarpet, Raja Annamalaipuram, Besant nagar and Neelankarai. The test was administered to mothers of children with either Autism or Down syndrome. It took almost a month to finish the data collection. The collected data was tabulated and statistically analyzed. The formulated hypothesis was tested and the conclusions were drawn from the findings.

The results of the data analysis have shown that mental health affects the psychological well being of the mothers. The overall results proved the following.

• The mothers of children with either Autism disorder or Down syndrome have  almost the same level of Mental health.
• Mothers in the higher age bracket had better mental health than those who were younger.
• Working mothers showed better mental health when compared to mothers who are housewives.
• Urban mothers showed better mental health than mothers from the rural background.
• From the socio-economic stand point the mothers from the higher financial strata showed better mental health than those from the lower financial group.
• The mental health of mothers from the different education backgrounds were almost at par. Post graduates showed slightly better mental health than graduates and undergraduates.
• There was no difference in the mental health of mothers from the joint and nuclear family set up.
• The number of children the mother had, had no bearing on her mental health. The mental health of mothers with single children and those with more children, were on par with each other.
• The mental health of mothers whose children are from the different age groups (ie) below 10 years, between 10 years-20 years and those above 20 years, were almost equal.
• The gender of the ‘special’ child makes no difference to the psychological well being of the mother.
• Mothers of children with or without associated problems had the same level of metal health.
• Irrespective of the birth order of the child the mothers had the same level of mental health.
• The number of years the child attended school had no bearing on the mental health of the mothers.
• Irrespective of whether the child was medicated or not the mother’s mental health levels were at par. Irrespective of whether the child exhibited behavior problems or not the level of mental health for those mothers were almost similar.

Abstract: The main aim of this study was to determine the social, political, and economic effects of cattle rustling in Baringo County. The study sought to answer the following research questions: What are the social, political and economic effects of cattle rustling in Baringo county? What are the challenges observed in trying to curb cattle rustling in Baringo? The theoretical framework for this study was the social cubism theory, supplemented by one of its components - the Alien Conspiracy Theory. The study revealed that cattle rustling in Baringo Sub-County was propagated by traditional practices, economic gains, illiteracy, marginalization and poor governance tendencies. The study concluded that cattle rustling had crippled various forms of development. For instance the right to life was being violated by the raiders who stole, killed and destroyed people and property. The right to food and property was also violated in the process of raiding which rendered the community to rely on relief food. The development of social and physical infrastructure was greatly stagnated. All these calamities had been linked to the causative factor- cattle rustling which called for the need to address the problem so as to pave way for effective development incentives. Thus the study recommended that the community should be enlightened on contemporary ways of life involving ways of adapting to the current times. In order to improve the situation on the area the government in partnership with nongovernmental organizations should engage in infrastructural development geared towards adopting development initiatives.

Abstract: The study was designed to examine the factors that aggravated conflicts within communities, taking a specific focus on the Orma and Pokomo communities in the Garsen and the Tana Delta in Tana River County. The study focuses on the role the women in these two communities can play in peace building and the roles they have played so far. The Ormas and Pokomos have been facing quite dramatic challenges posed by various socio-economic indicators. In spite of the fact that there had been increased deaths, loss of property and displacement of people within the area, there still exist significant differences ethnicity and the level of articulating of the fundamental issues still remain wanting. There are a large number of members of the community within Tana Delta who still live under fear not knowing the next move that will be undertaken, thus failing to make maximum utilization of their available resourced for their socio-economic well-being.

Abstract: This article seeks to explore the role of music in cultural diplomacy, by promoting socio-cultural cooperation. Cultural diplomacy is explained as a soft power tool that promotes the exchange of art, music, ideas, information and culture, as a way of creating a mutual understanding and to strengthen cooperation and friendship among communities and nations. Music has created a medium in which different communities can share these ideas and experiences increasing cultural understanding and tolerance. The cutting edge and the bridge building across the cultures and societies is what gives music the ability to boost on international relations.

Cultural diplomacy is a powerful strategy of impacting opinions of the global citizens especially in the era of the internet and social media. With globalization, geographical distance is not a hindrance for regions and communities to integrate, collaborate and interact. This study merges music and social domains with international relations and diplomacy. It argues that the promotion of music as a cultural diplomacy tool boosts cross-cultural communication and improves intercultural communication, by emphasizing on the role of music in enhancing socio-cultural cooperation.

This study is a guide in the advancements of music strategies in relation to Kenya’s cultural diplomacy. Findings useful for policy formulation and modification by governments and their foreign embassies, as well as the private and civil sector involved in music as a cultural diplomatic tool will benefit these actors in intercultural communication and international relations. The contribution to academic knowledge and research will overcome the knowledge gap on the role of music as a tool of cultural diplomacy, essentially, in promotion of socio-cultural cooperation. This study is also of value to academic researchers who could use this study as a foundation for future academic research.

Abstract: HIV testing and counselling remains to be the primary doorway to accessing treatment and prevention. Stigma associated with HIV creates negative mindset and convictions about HIV positive individuals. The partiality involves labelling a person as socially inadequate and excluding them from societal activities. While stigma refers to an attitude or belief, discrimination is the behaviour that results from those attitudes or beliefs. In Kenya, stigma level is highest in school settings where adolescent spend most of their time. The mind-set people have regarding the infection creates perceived fear which acts as a barrier for the adolescents to go for HIV test. The Same stigma creates challenge for adherence to treatment which suppresses the viral load for those who have tested positive given the unfriendly environment. The scenario does not provide room for this age group to go for counselling, to take HIV test, enlist on and adhere to treatment. Most of the available innovations and programs are not contextualized to fit the adolescents in boarding school set up, particularly self testing kits. Albeit the effectiveness of the innovation, stigma and school schedules remain to be a barrier that hinder adolescents from relying on such technology. This paper argues that HIV stigma is not an issue of the past but also the present, and should be prevented from being a future agenda.

Abstract: This study aimed to evaluate the English proficiency of the JEEP Program finishers particularly on their speaking and writing skills of Cotabato City State Polytechnic College. The English proficiency of the JEEP finishers was described based on the components of the Speaking and the Writing. Each of the components was rated using the rating scale used in the JEEP accelerate classes. Findings of which served as bases for developing instructional material for EN 121- Writing in the Discipline.

Furthermore, the study sought to answer three specific questions: what was the level of performance of the subjects in Speaking in terms of fluency, accuracy, pronunciation, and comprehension; what was the level of performance of the subjects in Writing in terms of content, organization, vocabulary and grammar; and was there a significant relationship between the level of performance of the subjects in speaking and in writing?

This study employed quantitative method utilizing descriptive, evaluative design in describing the level of performance of the subjects in both speaking and writing skills; while correlation analysis in exploring the relationship between the level of performance of the subjects in speaking and writing was used.

The findings revealed that the level of performance of the subjects in speaking per component was good except for the comprehension, which was excellent. But in general, their level of performance in speaking was good; while the level of performance of the subjects in writing per component was also good except for the grammar component where they only get average. But their overall speaking performance was also good. The findings further revealed that there was a significant relationship between the levels of performance of the subjects in speaking and writing. This means that the subjects performed better in speaking, and it follows their writing performance.

The study concluded that the JEEP Program is effective in developing or enhancing the English Proficiency, particularly in speaking and writing skills of the tertiary students in preparation for their future employment so that they can compete locally and even globally with the sectors which require a high level of English Proficiency. This implies that an individual with good speaking skills may also become a good writer too.

Abstract: This paper examines the effectiveness of technology in curbing terrorism. It highlights the trends in terrorism from 1998 to 2019 in order to understand this more. The study argues that counter-terrorism efforts are partly focused on combating terrorism using developments in technology. It highlights success stories in responding to terrorism from Kenya, the U.S and New Zealand.

Terrorists are increasingly adapting to new technologies therefore increasing the impact and the scope of their attacks. To curb these attacks, counterterrorism measures have therefore had to incorporate new technologies. Security forces have experienced challenges in adapting to new technologies to prevent future attacks. Nonetheless, when these technologies have been adapted, they have proven effective.

Abstract:  In India, even though several strands of the Thai people live such as the Khamti, Turung, Phakiyal, Khamyang, Nor etc., the Ahoms are the most prominent of them all.The arrival of Ahom Swargadew Chaolung Sukapha in the year 1228 AD marks an important event in the history of North East India which ushered in the conception of the Assamese society as we know it today. From the day of his arrival till the Treaty of Yandabo, the Ahoms brought together seven princely territories as a part of one kingdom and ruled the region for nearly 600 years. Along with the concepts of generosity, secularism and cultural tolerance in their way of ruling, the Ahoms also brought with them their language, literature and culture. The foundation of the Assamese society as shaped by the Ahom rulers was strengthened by a practice of non-discrimination on the basis of caste or creed which further offered a similar character to its language and culture as well. Not just language and culture, the Ahoms had added immensely to every aspect of the Assamese society including the religion, education as well as its architecture and sculptures of the place. In this paper, amongst the various contributions of the Ahoms, we will be discussing about their contributions towards the shaping the architecture, monuments and sculptures of Assam, focussing primarily on the Dol – Devalayas and the palaces of the Ahom royals.
