Abstract: This study examined the influence of gender, parental marital status and social support on family quality of life of college students. A total of 377 college students participated in this study with 106 male and 271 females .Family Quality of Life scale (FQOL) was used to measure three subscales, interaction, parenting and emotional well-being. ANOVA revealed that students with high social support scored higher in all subscales of family quality of life scale than those with low social support. The study also showed that students with married parents scored significantly higher in subscales of interaction, parenting, and emotional well-being than those from divorced parents. Gender difference showed that female students scored significantly higher than male students on interaction and parenting scales but there was no significant difference on emotional well-being scale for both genders.

Abstract: This paper shows the therapeutic benefits of using the Bracelet to Reduce Panic Attacks in Patients with Panic Disorder (BRPAPPD). This patent was titled (Bracelet to Stimulates Patients of Panic Disorder - BSPPD), number 3796, and was obtained from King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) on 07 Dec 2014 in Riyadh – Saudi Arabia. The idea of this device, which can be considered as a cognitive and behavioural therapy (CBT) tool, is to help patients suffering from panic disorder (PD) to cope with sudden onset panic attacks. The inventor, who is a psychologist, has observed PD patients in his clinic, and has found that they are strongly affected by certain affirmations they hear during clinical sessions e.g. ’I am strong enough to cope with a panic attack’ and ‘I experienced a panic attack before and nothing happened to me, so nothing will happen to me this time’. These affirmations prepare PD patients and enable them to deal with their panic attacks. The regular appearance of these affirmations on the electronic bracelets’ screen, will ensure that PD patients are reminded of them. These affirmations can be repeated according to how frequently the panic attacks occur. A psychologist can calculate the mean number of panic attacks a PD patient has, which will indicate the number of the times that the phrases and sentences should appear on the bracelet screen. In other words, the patients will be stimulated by these affirmations to cope with their panic attacks, as and when needed.

Abstract: This paper focuses on Obama's techniques of persuasion in speech on striking Syria. The model which is adopted to analyze Obama's speech is critical discourse analysis under the impact of Norman Fairclough's and Halliday's perspective. This study investigates the various persuasive strategies employed by President Obama to establish his proposal on attacking Syria. And explores these persuasive strategies used to influence the audience to believe him. The use of first personal pronoun is to shorten the distance between him (president) and the audience. So it can help him persuade the public to accept and support his policies, actions and what he determined for his future businesses. Finally, the speaker uses modal verb to make the audience to understand his speech easily and also to agree his speech by using modal verbs.

Abstract: The main goal of this study is to reflect on the concept of well-being and its links to sport and education through the lens of a phenomenological approach focused on sport pedagogy as a science of human health and sport sciences. I argue that well-being is not something stable whose meanings are given once and for all. Rather, well-being is changeable, and thereby related to the meanings that individuals create to make sense of their life. Well-being is thus an existential condition experienced by human beings as a unity of body-mind-spirit which enables humans flourish through movement and playing games. This leads us to a notion of sport as a monad/set of experiences related to the body, movement and play. For this reason, sport represents one of the best form and ways of flourishing for human beings, who, through sport, can holistically achieve the complete fulfillment of their original and natural condition of openness-to-transcendence, being-in-the-world and being-with-others. To conclude, the study argues that sport pedagogy, as a human science, needs to be revisited in a more phenomenological and existential way linked to the pursuit of well-being through sport.
