Abstract: Proper inventory management has a significant effect on project performance. Construction companies play a major role in setting up and completing projects that contribute to the overall growth of an economy. Over the past years, the construction companies in Nairobi have been experiencing performance-related challenges in their projects. At times, inventory costs run beyond the estimates, which eventually results in losses for the firms. Some of the large construction companies have many projects with fixed prices based on the contracts, and they sometimes bear the risk of cost overruns. The companies sometimes experience interrupted operations because the inventory runs out of stock. However, most of them have insufficient inventory management approaches. It leads to a delay in finishing projects, and they incur more costs than their estimates during budgeting. This study investigated the effect of inventory management controls on project performance of selected construction companies in Nairobi City County, Kenya. The target population included three construction companies in Nairobi; Seyani Bros Ltd, Intex Ltd and Epco Builders Ltd. 686 employees were drawn from Seyani Bros Ltd, Intex Ltd and Epco Builders Ltd specifically working in procurement, finance and warehouse departments. A sample size of 206 was obtained through stratified random sampling technique. Using self-administered questionnaires, primary data was obtained and used to establish the sample size. Multiple regression analysis was utilized for inferential data analysis to establish relations between dependent and independent variables. The study found that inventory management controls significantly and positively impact the project performance of the selected construction companies in Nairobi County. The study concluded that through inventory management controls the construction firms may regulate inventory levels by keeping the right amount of each product in stock, monitoring their purchase orders, and maintaining a working supply chain. The study recommended that the construction companies should embrace inventory management controls specifically; warehouse security measures, minimal double handling of materials, stock taking, inspection of materials and accounting controls.

Abstract: Automotive Assembling firms in Nairobi County, Kenya, have faced significant challenges over the last 15 years, including lack of supporting standards, low-capacity building, a huge influx in second-hand motor vehicles, which account for 80% of motor vehicles, these challenges contributed to decline in the organizational performance. Most of them have embraced Outsourcing Strategies to improve their organizational performance. However, they are still facing stagnant operational performance. Organizational performance in this study was measured using sales, profitability and market share, therefore most of the firms experienced low sales, non-profitability and reduced market share. Therefore, this study sought to investigate the effect of marketing outsourcing on organizational performance of automotive assembling firms in Nairobi City County, Kenya. The study applied a descriptive survey design. The research narrowed to Procurement staff in managerial positions at 13 automotive assembling firms. This research focused on official staff in the procurement department in automotive assembling firms totaling 114 employees to collect the relevant data. A census of 114 respondents was done. Data was collected using questionnaires. Pilot Study was conducted where the questionnaire was administered to a few selected respondents from the automotive assembling firms in Nairobi Kenya. Quantitative data was analysed using descriptive analysis. Multiple regression model inferential statistics was applied to obtain the correlation between variables. The study concluded that customer relations and follow-up are conducted on a regular basis through different public media outlets in the automobile assembling firms. The study recommended that the firm management must develop partnerships with the suppliers, and they should not be taken as contractors, which will help share value and missions over the long term.

Abstract: Even after the implementation of the Integrated Financial Management Information System, corruption, unpaid projects, and money misappropriation have drawn attention to Nandi County in Kenya, which has a negative impact on service delivery. This is despite the County Governments in Kenya being established as a way to ensure that services, including finance, reach the citizen. These factors are a blatant sign of poor financial performance in the county government, raising the question of how IFMIS may help the Nandi County Government with timely reporting. The study sought to investigate the effect of timely reporting on financial performance of Nandi County government, Kenya. A case study research design was used in the study. 119 employees from the county assembly, management, and other IFMIS parties made up the target population. An initial sample of 92 respondents was chosen using the stratified sampling technique. Data collection involved the use of structured questionnaires. Utilizing both descriptive and inferential statistics, the data collected was examined. Inferential statistics employed regression analysis, while descriptive statistics used mean and standard deviation. There was statistically significant effects of timely reporting on the financial performance of the County Government of Nandi, Kenya. The study concluded that the utility of information made available to diverse consumers is seen to be significantly influenced by the timeliness of audited corporate annual financial reports, Accurate financial reporting fosters trust, which encourages investors to spend their hard-earned money in the company. The study recommended that The County has to make its financial reporting more timely and should allot the necessary time for financial reporting.

Abstract: Available data shows poor performance of infrastructure projects globally, regionally and locally. Meru County scores poorly in terms of infrastructure development with a very poor record of project performance. Therefore, this study sought to investigate the influence of project initiation on project performance among infrastructure projects in Meru County, Kenya. The research design used in this study was a descriptive cross-sectional design with a quantitative approach. In this study, infrastructural projects in Meru County were the units of observation while project management committee members were the units of analysis. While simple random sampling was used to choose respondents, stratified random sampling was utilized to sample the projects. 140 respondents were selected as a sample from 28 infrastructure projects in Meru County. In order to gather the data for this study, a structured questionnaire was used. A pretest was carried out in Embu County to gauge the viability of the questionnaire used in this study. With the use of SPSS, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and regression analysis were used to analyze the data. Tables were used to display the study's findings. Project initiation and project performance both revealed a high positive and significant link, according to correlation analysis. The study concluded that good project initiation results in greater project performance. The study recommended that every project should have a project plan. This will aid in the documentation of planning assumptions and choices, as well as the facilitation of communication among project stakeholders.

Abstract: Since the inception of County government in 2010, the counties have been experiencing a number of challenges in the enhancing their performance. Accordingly, in spite of the various measures being undertaken to ensure the units of devolution work to achieve their objectives, there are few studies on the performance management on counties as this is a new phenomenon in Kenya on organizational performance. Therefore, this study sought to investigate the effect of human resources on the performance of County Government of Garissa, Kenya. The research design employed by the research study was descriptive design. This design is recommended as it helped in the provision of accurate information. The target population of the study was Garissa County Government. The respondents on the other hand were made up of senior management officials within the county of Garissa. The sampling design for the study was stratified sampling method that enabled the target population be grouped in form of strata for equitable representation. The study sample size was 101 respondents. The data collection instrument for the study was semi-structured questionnaires that was useful in obtaining primary data. 10% of the study sample size was part of the pilot group from which they were not included in the final research. Content validity was used in testing the validity of the questions within the questionnaire whereas reliability was obtained following a test on Cronbach Alpha. Quantitative data achieved by the survey was presented in the form of mean averages. Besides, statistical analysis software version 25 was also incorporated into the data analysis. Analysis of the qualitative data was done through content analysis. The findings from the study indicated that human resources greatly affect Garissa County Government's performance. With the positive correlation between human resources and the performance of Garissa County, it was also concluded that human resources are an important part of the County's overall strategic strategy. The study recommended that the county directors need to ensure the right employees who can work towards achieving similar goals within the county government of Garissa to encourage a greater team spirit are hired.

Abstract: This study aims to: Analyze internal and external factors at the Hypermart Mataram Lombok Epicentrum Mall branch company, analyze and formulate an appropriate and effective business strategy formulation in increasing the business of Hypermart company Mataram Lombok Epicentrum Mall branch, provide recommendations for appropriate and effective business strategies for Hypermart Mataram Lombok Epicentrum Mall branch companies that will be carried out in the future. Based on the results of the IFE matrix analysis, it is known that the number of weighted values is 2.612. This value indicates that the company has a strong organization internally because the value obtained is above the average value of 2.50. This value also shows that this company is above the average in the company's internal strength. Meanwhile, based on the EFE matrix, it is known that the number of weighted values is 1.863. This value shows the company responds well to the opportunities and threats that exist in the retail business. In other words, Hypermart Retail Company Lombok Epicentrum Mall Branch can effectively take advantage of the opportunities that exist. Based on the results of the QSPM matrix analysis, it can be seen that the horizontal integration strategy has a value of 6.928, the market penetration strategy has a value of 6.869, the market development strategy has a value of 6.869, and the product development strategy has a value of 6,869. With this result, the horizontal integration strategy is more attractive to the company. The horizontal strategy seeks greater ownership/control over competing firms.

Abstract: The aim of change management is maximization of benefits and organizational objectives in the meantime lowering the chances and possibilities of failure as change is being implemented. There are reports that have been made concerning inadequacies within the health systems however much provision of healthcare services is a devolved function. This study investigated the influence of employee training on institutional performance in Kakamega County General Teaching and Referral Hospital, Kenya. The study adopted exploratory design. The respondents constituted of 551 employees from the 6 department of the hospital. Stratified sampling technique was used to put the respondents into two categories to ensure that all the respondents are adequately represented. Purposive sampling was useful upon selection of the departmental respondents. The study sample size was made up of 232 respondents. The study used questionnaire to collect primary data. To obtain adequate content validity, the researcher adopted an expert judgmental method. The use of Cronbach's alpha coefficient helped in determining the reliability of the study. Analysis of the quantitative data was done through descriptive statistics. The quantitative data achieved by the survey was presented in the form of mean averages, frequencies, and percentages. The study found that employee training a significant influence on institutional performance in Kakamega County Referral Hospital. The study concluded that training improves performance by lowering employee turnover and raising commitment to organizational goals and objectives. The study recommended that the hospital should conduct a training needs assessment in order to establish a fundamental and distinct business goal for the training supports.

Abstract: One factor that contributes to success is customer retention for a company's longevity in the modern business environment of fierce competition. As a result, businesses need to focus on keeping their current clientele rather than just bringing in new ones if they want to thrive and remain competitive in the market. To fully satisfy or exceed consumers' requirements, wants, wishes, expectations, and willingness to acquire products is a vital requirement for doing business with them in the future. This study sought to investigate the effect of commitment on customer retention in container freight stations industry in Mombasa County, Kenya. The research used a descriptive survey methodology. Targeted were all 24 Container Freight Stations located in Mombasa County. 10% of the study's target population was used for the pilot test, and those participants did not take part in the final analysis. Therefore, 36 questionnaires were really employed for the pilot testing. A sample of 120 managers and 240 clients were chosen by stratified random selection for the study. The respondents were given a semi-structured questionnaire, which was used to collect primary data. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used in the analysis of the primary data acquired using SPSS while correlation and regression analysis were among the specific inferential statistics. Customer satisfaction was shown to be correlated with the independent variables using a multiple regression model. The results showed a positive and substantial relationship between commitment and customer retention (=.271, p=0.000.05). The study comes to the conclusion that relationship marketing practices used by Mombasa County's container freight stations affect client retention in such stations. As a result, the study suggests that the management of the Container Freight Station in Mombasa County always work to forge a commitment with their clients. The Container Freight Station and the consumer will feel more connected as a result, which will foster the growth of reliable, lasting connections. The management needs to understand how important it is to evaluate and cultivate relationships with customers.

Abstract: Globalization and global competition have put tremendous pressure on organizations, institutions, governments, and businesses in order to control cost, improve productivity, increase profits, to remain relevant and competitive in the rapidly changing environment due to the use of technology. The use of PMIS in project-based industries has helped to improve performance due to high quality decision-making in project management. Globally, project management processes have been continuously automated due to increasingly reliance on software applications. The main objective of the study is to investigate the influence of Project management Information System Integration on the performance of public-school construction projects in Kajiado County, Kenya. Specifically, the study sought to establish the influence of: PMIS capacity; PMIS stakeholder management; PMIS cost management; and PMIS monitoring on performance of public-school construction projects in Kajiado county. The study was underpinned by a number of theories including: Technology acceptance Theory, Stakeholders Theory, DeLone and McLean information Success Model and System Theory. The study used descriptive survey design and questionnaires were the main data collection instrument. The target population was 50 public school development projects in Kajiado County. A sample of 44 projects was used and the questionnaire was administered to project managers, project supervisors, and contractors. The study used both descriptive and inferential statistics. The response rate was 90.9% where 120 questionnaires were returned out of the 132 distributed. The descriptive statistics showed the independent variables to have some influence on performance of public-school construction projects in Kajiado county. The inferential statistics showed a positive correlation between PMIS capacity; PMIS stakeholder management; PMIS cost management; and PMIS monitoring and performance of projects. The regression results showed that all the independent variables (PMIS capacity; PMIS stakeholder management; PMIS cost management; and PMIS monitoring) had positive significant influence on performance of projects in Kajiado county. The independent variables explained 79.2% change in performance of construction projects in Kajiado County. The study recommends integration of PMIS in public-school construction project to help improve on performance. The study will be useful to the county government, engineers, contractors and even academic researchers.

Abstract: This paper examines the short-term impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak on the banking system's critical transitions (bifurcation points) in all affected countries across the globe. The consequences of infectious disease are considerable and have been directly affecting the banking system across the world. Using the Lotka-Volterra complex system theory approach, this study develops the complex dynamical model for investigating the role of the pandemic outbreak towards the banking system's critical transitions. Our results confirm that the banking system in major affected economic zones fell quickly during the critical virus outbreak. The Eurozone experienced more negative financial disruptions during the crisis than other economic zones. Further results confirmed that the promotion of the banking system z-score fosters the critical transitions to large values and thus, promotes an exponential growth of the banking system.  Moreover, the study of banking systems can be applied as a risk mitigation approach to reduce economic shocks, increase banking sector resilience, and avoid financial collapse.

Abstract: Organizational goals are tied to the influence of Leaders on the people who have a stake on the organization. Research previously conducted on organization’s sustainable high performance has addressed this concept from a traditional leadership perspective of a single approach like traits, skills or behaviors.  The research sought to address the following objectives; Intellectual Stimulation; Inspirational Motivation; Idealized Behaviors; and Individualized Consideration their relationship with performance of the National Government Administration. The research was anchored on the following theories; The Agency theory; Communication theory; Decision theory, and transformational leadership theory. The general objective was to examine the influence of Transformational leadership on performance of the National Government Administration. The specific objectives was to look at how Intellectual Stimulation; Inspirational Motivation; Idealized Behaviors; and Individualized Consideration their relationship with performance of the National Government Administration.  A mixed research method was used to provide the researcher with meaningful insights on the topic.  The targeted population were the 338 Deputy County Commissioners who are the leaders of this department at Sub-County level, a fairly Senior Management level, and the researcher drew a sample size of 183 officers, from the different geographical regions of the Country, that represents divergent factors or challenges that these senior managers encounter. The study found transformational leadership to significantly influence performance of the National Government Administration. All the independent variable i.e. Intellectual Stimulation; Inspirational Motivation; Idealized Behaviors; and Individualized Consideration had a significant positive relationship with performance of the National Government Administration. The study recommends organization to embrace Transformational leadership to improve performance. Intellectual Stimulation; Inspirational Motivation; Idealized Behaviors; and Individualized Consideration were able to explain 69.1% or variation in performance at the National Government Administration.

Abstract: The construction industry in Kenya and the world at large is subject to more risks and uncertainty than many other industries. The process of delivering a project from inception, completion and finally into use is complex. The complexity of the work involved in construction activities, therefore, makes construction projects more predisposed to risk events. In times of increasing global competition, the success of projects becomes more decisive to an organization’s business performance. However, many projects still present delays, changes in their scope, failures and premature termination. The skills that enable firms to cope with uncertainty and gain performance through risk management are imperative. The study aimed at examining the influence of construction projects on performance of Kenya Urban Roads Authority projects in central region of Kenya i.e., Muranga, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Nyeri, and Nyandarua counties. The study identified technical risks, client related risks, financial risks, and socio-political risks as the construction risks. Descriptive survey design was adopted where 217 respondents (engineers and contractors) working with Kenya Urban Roads Authority projects in central region of Kenya were targeted. A sample of 140 respondents was drawn and administered with questionnaires. both descriptive and inferential analysis was done. The response rate was 80%. The study inferential statistics established that constructions risk significantly influence performance of Kenya Urban Roads Authority projects in central region of Kenya. Specifically, technical risks had the highest influence on performance, followed by Client related risks, then financial risks. Socio-political risks had the least influence on performance of Kenya Urban Roads Authority projects in central region of Kenya. All the variables explained 76.5% of performance of Kenya Urban Roads Authority projects in central region of Kenya. The study recommends implementation of project risk management practices to turn the risks in to opportunities. The study also recommends a similar study to identify the other construction risks that explain the variation of 23.5% of performance in Kenya Urban Roads Authority projects in central region of Kenya.

Abstract: The National Police Service came into effect through enactment of National Police Service Act 2017 from which the Service also derives its mandate. It can be argued that an accountable, transparent and efficient Policing Service is a requirement to safety and comfort of all communities in Kenya. To ensure that Police meet their objectives while executing their duties and serving the public, large public resources have been committed to ensure that the Service meets the up to date modern status. Much progress has been made through creation of the National Police Service, the National Police Service Commission, and other oversight bodies such as the Internal Affairs Unit and the Independent Policing Oversight Authority that oversee the performance of the Police. The general objective of the study was to determine the role of Monitoring and Evaluation practices and performance of the National Police Service in Meru County. Specific Objectives was to examine the role of stakeholder engagement on practices and performance of National Police Service in Meru County, to determine the role of resource allocation on practices and performance of National Police Service in Meru County, to determine the role of data management on practices and performance of National Police Service in Meru County, to determine the role of capacity building on practices and performance of National Police Service in Meru County. Police Stations in the entire Meru County will be used in this project. This study adopted descriptive survey design. The target population was 312 respondents from which a sample size of 175 respondents was drawn. SPSS was used for data analysis. A pilot study was conducted where 10% of sample was administered with questionnaires. SPSS (25) was used to check on reliability and validity of the research instrument. The pilot study revealed that the variables had Cronbach alpha coefficients of greater than 0.7 and thus, they were reliable. Construct validity was checked using Factor analysis where items with factor loading below 0.5 were excluded from further analysis. The study analysis conducted both descriptive and inferential statistics. The study found that monitoring and evaluation practices affected performance of the National Police Service in Meru County.  The final study revealed that stakeholder involvement to have a positive and significant role on performance of National Police Service in Meru County. The study found that resource allocation to have a positive and significant role on performance of National Police Service. The study also found data management to have a positive and significant role on performance of National Police Service in Meru County. Finally, the study found capacity building to have a positive and significant role on performance of National Police Service in Meru County. The study recommends the use of monitoring and evaluation practices to ensure improvement of performance in the National Police Service in Meru County. Monitoring and evaluation practices explained 84.8% change of performance in the National Police Service in Meru County. The study will be useful to decision makers, the public, and the National Police service.

Abstract: The main objective of the study was to establish the effect of organizational commitments on performance of Non-governmental organizations in Nairobi County. The study was premised on four theories namely social exchange theory, co-operative game theory, resource-based theory and Stakeholders theory. A descriptive research design was used for the study. Primary information was used for the study which was assembled using semi structured questionnaires. The first section of the questionnaire collected bio data information of the respondents while the other sections had questions from the four variables of the study. The target population was 53 non-governmental organizations operating in Nairobi County. The unit of observation was managers from the three levels of management that is the lower level, middle level and top-level managers 3 managers were selected from each of the fifty three non-governmental organizations for the study. A sample of 112 managers was selected for the study. Collected information was scrutinized for descriptive, inferential correlation and regression analysis. Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 24 was used for Data Analysis. Study outcomes was displayed in form of frequency tables, percentages, and charts. Data results found out that Organizational Commitment, significantly and positively influence the performance of non – governmental organizations (NGOs) in Nairobi County. The study recommends that NGOs in Nairobi County embrace Organizational Commitment.

Abstract: The country’s current economic and social situations have had a negative impact on the delivery of health care services. Employee empowerment is one of the key values, which strives to have the right people with the necessary talents and attitude, as well as financial sustainability. The Kenyatta National Hospital, however, continues to suffer from inefficiency, low service quality, and consumer dissatisfaction. Therefore, this study sought to investigate the influence on consultative management on performance of Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi City County, Kenya. This study employed a descriptive research design. Kenyatta National Hospital will serve as the unit of analysis, while 911 Kenyatta National Hospital personnel from ten departments served as the unit of observation. A stratified sample approach was used to divide respondents into departments to ensure that all instances are represented. A simple random selection process was used to choose the respondents. A total of 278 persons, or 30.5 percent of the total population, was sampled. To collect primary data, a questionnaire was employed. There was 28 Kenyatta National Hospital respondents in a pilot study who were not included in the final study. The researcher conducted a content validity test to check that the surveys are written in simple English and that the questions are understandable. The Cronbach alpha test was used to determine reliability. To evaluate quantitative data, descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation were used. The data that was examined was presented using tables and figures. Inferential statistics were also done using correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis because there were various explanatory variables in this study. The study found that consultative management had a positive and significant influence on Kenyatta National Hospital’s performance in Nairobi City County, Kenya. The study concluded that the hospital had a very effective of implementation of consultative management strategy which improved their performance through openness/respect, sharing of information and suggestion plans. The study recommended that the hospital should be aware of its business environment. This entails conducting a critical analysis of both the internal and external business environments.
