Abstract: The foreign exchange market is an important element of the financial market of any country. It is the market where exchange rates are determined. An exchange rate regime is the way at which one currency may be converted into another currency. Exchange rate mechanism can be classified as fixed exchange rate and floating exchange rate. In fixed exchange rate the value of currency is determined and controlled by the Government and central banks, whereas, in floating exchange rate the value of currency is determined by the market and in which government and central banks do not interfere. The study examined the trends in exchange rate of Indian Rupee as against Euro in pre-recession period as well as in post- recession period. The trend analysis revealed that the value of rupee as against Euro depreciated during the period 2001-02 to 2016-17.  The trends in exchange rate of Indian Rupee as against Euro in the pre- recession period and the post- recession period were polynomial trends which showed that there were fluctuations in the exchange rate during the period.

Abstract: Change is what brings forth new ideas, solutions and growth. It’s about breaking free from our circle of comfort in order to start seeing alternative routes offered to our organizations to progress in the right direction. It’s about embracing business transformation, making an organization more agile, ready to adapt, and taking advantage of the latest innovations to boost competitiveness. County governments in Kenya have become a point interest especially in service delivery at the grassroots. To achieve this mandate, county managers introduce changes that range from technological, organizational, cultural or even leadership changes engaging different change management practices. Kakamega County like all other organizations vouching for success has embraced change of some sort over the years. The changes have had effect on both the employees and organization at large based on the assorted change management strategies used. It is with this onslaught that this study moves to bring out the effect of organizational structure change management strategies on employee performance in Kakamega County Government. The study targeted 160 employees of which 154 respondents were drawn from senior managers in the 11 ministries of the County (Governors executive order). Descriptive research design was used for the research with data obtained through questionnaires and analyzed using statistical software SPSS and the results presented in form of tables, graphs and charts. Results indicated 50.3% of changes in employee performance could be attributed to organization structure (R²=0.503). The results revealed that there was a positive significant relationship between organizational structure changes and employee performance. The study then recommended full adoption of the organizational structure changes so as to enhance service delivery, improved employee performance and enhanced operation

Abstract: Proper financial planning ensures that maximization of profit and wealth creation for shareholders is achieved. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of financial planning on financial performance of sugar industry in Kenya. The objective of the study was to determine the influence of working on financial performance of sugar industry in Kenya. The study used quantitative research design that involved computation of financial ratios to arrive at the conclusion. Secondary data was appropriate for this study because of easy access of information, involves low cost and readily available information. The study showed that there was a strong influence of working capital on financial performance of firms in sugar industry. From the study findings, it was concluded that working capital was positively related to financial performance of sugar industry in Kenya. The study concluded that Muhoroni had highest amount of working capital. Also, the study found that working capital influenced highly on financial performance of sugar industry in Kenya.  Hence, the study recommended that West Kenya should employ more working capital management planning in order to improve financial planning.

Abstract: The objective of the study was about factors affecting the adoption of internet advertisement in small and medium size enterprises in Mombasa Kenya. Specific objectives were to find out how top management willingness affects the adoption of internet advertisement in small and medium size enterprises in Mombasa Kenya and Determine whether the skills of internet advertising affects the adoption of internet advertising in SMEs in Mombasa Kenya. Descriptive research design was adopted for the study. The study was 500 entrepreneurs with formal premises registered with the Mombasa County operating within the CBD and the Sample size was 80. The main source of data was primary data. The data collected was analyzed by SPSS. Pearson’s correlation coefficient indicated weak positive correlation between management willingness and adoption of internet advertisement. Skills of internet positive strongly correlated with value of 1.00 which was significant at 95% level of confidence with p-value of 0.000 (0.00< 0.05). First null hypothesis was rejected because p-value was less than 0.05 (0.00<0.05). Second null hypothesis was rejected at 95% confidence level with p-value of 0.000.

Abstract: This study sought to establish the influence of Electronic Commerce on the public service delivery by the state agencies in Kenya. Public service delivery has been declining over time with the level of public satisfaction growing at a very minimal rate. This is despite the commitment by the Kenyan government to enhance public service delivery through increased funding and the introduction of E-Government strategies among them E-Commerce. This study therefore drove the purpose for the study. The study also sought to analyse the moderating effect of strategy execution on the relationship between E-Commerce and public service delivery by the state agencies in Kenya. The study was informed by New Public Management (NPM), Technology Diffusion Theory and  the Contingency Theory. The study adopted a descriptive research design to collect data from the target population comprising of 4230 employees within the management cadre at 132 specific government state agencies incorporated entities outside the mainstream civil service established for purposes of public service delivery in Kenya; 62 Executive Agencies, 25 Independent Regulatory Bodies as well as 45 Research Institutions, Public Universities and Tertiary Education Institutions. Convenient sampling technique was used by the study to sample the respondents within the 132 specific government state agencies. Taro Yamane formula was applied to calculate the sample size of 365 employees and self-developed questionnaires were used to collect data from the sample. Data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The study findings revealed that implementation of E-Commerce as an E-Government strategy had a significant effect on the public service delivery of state agencies in Kenya. The study concluded that implementation of E-Commerce practices such as having a high level of understanding of internal strengths, weaknesses, external opportunities and threats can lead to a significant improvement in the performance of public service delivery in Kenya. The study recommends that the state agencies through the management ought to uphold E-Commerce as a part of the E-Government strategies so as to enhance effective achievement of their mandate which is public service delivery.

Abstract: The study examined the relationship between functional policy implementation and the growth of deposit money banks in port Harcourt Rivers State, Nigeria. The study design is a survey/cross-sectional. The basic research instrument was the questionnaire. The population of study comprises of all the 21 deposit money banks operating in port Harcourt as at December, 2018. Banks growth was measured via increase number of staff and revenue generation of the banks. Pearson Product moment Correlation analysis (PPMC) was used to determine the extent of the relationship between the two variables of study with the aid if the statistical packages for social sciences (SPSS0 version 20.  The findings of the tested hypothesis indicated that there is a low negative relationship between Functional Policy Implementation and growth of the Deposit Money Banks in Port Harcourt. Deriving from the findings, the researcher recommend among others that Banks should focus and align their executive teams, business unit, human resources, information technology, and financial resources to their organization’s strategy. To achieve best result (growth) banks should capitalize on capabilities and assets-tangible and intangible- that existed already within their organizations and that Banks tangible assets such as skilled, motivated employees and customer information systems should be transformed into tangible outcomes such as customer retention, revenues from new product and services, and ultimately profit and that Banks should make sure that all employees understand the strategy and conduct their day to day business in a way that contributes to the success of the chosen strategy.

Management therefore have to formulate strategies of effectively managing this important yet sensitive asset. This study was to investigating Effects of Accounts receivables in printing Industries in Kenya the scope been Nairobi Industrial area. The study further wants to determined how internal controls affect Accounts receivables in printing Industries at Nairobi Industrial Area  A sample of 50 respondents was selected using stratified random sampling in each of the printing industries there were five strata. The strata were that of key management staff, chief finance officer, finance staff, head of delivery and credit control staff where information was collected using semi structured questionnaire administered to the five respondents in the selected firms to collect both qualitative and quantitative information. Where necessary, personal interviews and documentary analysis ware conducted to enhance validity of information gathered using questionnaires. Data was analysed using descriptive statistics where measures of central tendency and measures of dispersion were computed to give results. Charts, tables and graphs were used to report findings. The study findings that internal controls procedures that had been approved by management in the management of accounts receivables. The study concluded that strong internal controls measures in accounts receivables need to have a strong management strategy and employees in place.

Abstract: Kenya aspires to attain sustained and high growth in economy in line with employment by the government, creating wealth and reducing poverty to conform to 2030 vision. To achieve this, the public sector which is the biggest employer must monitor the performance of its employees. The main objective of the study was to establish the influence of financial rewards on Employee Performance in the State Corporations in Kenya. The study was guided by three theories which include; Abraham Maslow’s, Hertzberg’s, Vrooms’ expectancy, scientific management, Adams Equity Reinforcement and goal setting theories. The study used descriptive and explanatory research designs and targeted 6 respondents from the 107 sampled state corporations totaling to 642. The study undertook a pilot study to pretest and validates the questionnaire. The probability and non-probability sampling was adopted and the study used stratified sampling and purposive sampling. The findings showed that non-financial rewards are a strong predictor of employee performance. The study recommends that state corporations in Kenya needs to establish a reward management policy/system and involve employees in determining acceptable and affordable non-financial rewards based on achievement of performance targets and the organization’s ability to pay or provide for these rewards.

Abstract: This study sought to establish the influence of work life benefits on employee performance in state corporations in Kenya. Various theories were reviewed during this study to assess and enhance understanding on the variables. These include Abraham Maslow’s, Vrooms’ expectancy and Reinforcement theory. The study used descriptive and explanatory research with a sample size of 642. The Cronbach’s alpha was used to check the reliability of the questionnaire. Data was analyzed by use of SPSS and presented through percentages, means, standard deviations and frequencies. The study used regression analysis to test the significance of the variables at 5% significance level on the dependent variables. The study also tested for multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, Normality and goodness of fit of the regression model. The findings showed that work life balance rewards moderately influence employee performance. The study concluded that most state corporations in Kenya recognized work life balance programs, however, these organizations hardly budgeted for the work life programs. The study therefore recommends that work life programs should be considered and budgeted for. Offering gym facilities to employees provides a healthy life style and also counters stress.  Organizations can also offer child care facilities so that the parents can work comfortably without worrying about their children and hence maximum concentration at work place that would lead to better productivity.

Abstract: Human resource management practices refer to organizational activities and processes directed at managing human resources through attracting, developing, motivating and retention of employees for the fulfillment of organizational goals. The purpose of the study was to determine the effects of the HRM practices; namely recruitment and selection, training and development and performance appraisal on employee performance in civil society organizations in Arusha. The study adopted a descripto-explanatory design and covered a population of 50 employees from four CSOs in Arusha which include; HakiMadini, Faida MaLi, PINGOS forum and CORDS. A semi-structured questionnaire was used to collect primary data. Content analysis was used to analyze qualitative data and quantitative data was analyzed using descriptive (mean) and inferential statistics (correlation analysis). The study revealed that recruitment and selection, training and development and performance appraisal are common practice in civil society organizations with a positive effect on employee performance. The study revealed a positive correlation between human resource practices and employee performance with a correlation coefficient at 0.018 for Recruitment and selection and 0.564 performance appraisal practices in CSOs received above average rating with training and development receiving highest rating at 0.623. The study recognized a linkage between HRM practices and employee performance was less than 0.05 significance level which implies that organizations with functional HRM practices enables employees to perform better than those that do not.

Title: HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT PRACTICES AND EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE IN NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS IN TANZANIA: A STUDY OF SELECTED CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS IN ARUSHA

Abstract: The purpose of this research is to determine the level of performances of the different offices in LPU Cavite in terms of green practices for the improvement of the organization's environmental performance. This will serve as the basis of developing operational guidelines for the employees. The descriptive research design was used. On the other hand, the comparative research method was used to determine if significant differences exist in the observation of the participants on the green practices when grouped by the type of participants. The study also used descriptive-correlational research methods to determine the significant relationship between the demographic profile and green practices in the operations of LPU Cavite. The majority of the participants are the non-teaching staffs of LPU Cavite, ages ranged from 26 to 30 years old, most are females, college graduates, and stayed in LPU Cavite between 1 to 5 years. The results revealed that among the observation of green practices, resource management has the highest mean of 4.44 while the indicator implementation and monitoring has the lowest mean of 3.98. There is no significant difference in the observation of the participants of green practices when grouped according to age, marital status, educational attainment, occupation, employment status, and length of service except for gender in relation to stakeholder support. Lastly, there is no significant relationship between demographic profile and green practices except for the length of service in relation to resource management and occupation in relation to facilities usage. It can be concluded that the non-teaching staffs apparently were more involved in daily resource management routine, including conservation, using environment-friendly products, and recycling. However, strict monitoring and implementation of these activities were least observed by employees that could affect the environmental initiatives of LPU Cavite. Females were more conscious and supportive in implementing green practices for the protection of the environment. Employees who stayed more than a year in the company were more committed to practicing sustainability in relation to resource management like saving energy and recycling waste. Among LPU Cavite non-teaching employees, rank and file staffs are more observant in applying green practices in using Facility and resources efficiently. It is recommended that LPU Cavite will consider the proposed operational guidelines for the implementation of green practices in LPU Cavite.

Abstract: The purpose of the study was to determine the perceptions of the faculty members at LPU-Cavite on their curriculum development competencies and to propose a program that will help them to enhance those competencies in making a comprehensive and effective curriculum. The descriptive research design was used in this study to establish a concrete basis of conclusions. The researchers used a survey instrument to determine the employment profile of the respondents and perceptions on their curriculum development competencies. On the other hand, the comparative research method was used to determine if a significant difference exists in the perception of the respondents on their curriculum development competencies when grouped according to the profile of respondents. The study utilized the non-probability sampling method using purposive sampling with the following criteria: teaching personnel and currently employed in LPU-Cavite for AY 2018-2019. The majority of the respondents’ highest educational attainment is a “college degree” (50.0%) and with only 4.05% already having a “post-doctoral degree.” For their employment status, the majority of the respondents are “contractual” (78.38%) while the remaining 21.62% are already “regular.” It appears that 41.89% of the respondents’ length of service in the institution is “less than a year,” with only 24.32% of them being in the university for more than five years. Lastly, most of the respondents came from the College of Business Administration and the International School, with each department having a total of 21.62% of the respondents each. The results revealed that the competency “Instructional Strategies Skills” has the highest mean of 4.2389 which means that the respondents perceived that they are “Very Good” in their ability to create and select different strategies related to instruction in order to help their students learn, accomplish tasks or meet goals while the competency “Instructional Materials Development Skills" ranked third and has the lowest mean of 4.1638 which means that there is a need to further improve that competency in order to enhance the quality of their lessons. The quality of the instructional materials have a direct impact on the quality of teaching. Generally, the overall mean of 4.1898 means that the respondents perceived themselves as “Very Good” when it comes to their curriculum development competencies. However, being rate as “Very Good” means that there are still rooms for improvement to achieve greater efficiencies and effectiveness in delivering customer value for their students. It is recommended that LPU-Cavite will consider the proposed program of the study.
