Abstract: The nomadic people of Central Asia have played a very important role in the various Socio political and economic developments from historic times not only in the region but also in the adjoining areas like South Asia, West Asia and the Europe. They have contributed lot towards the cultural advancement of Central Asia. Their cultural traits are deeply embedded in their nomadic lifestyle. Even in the Succeeding years during the Soviet and Post Soviet years, these cultural practices were still practiced by these nomads. The Soviet planners does not succeeded in uprooting these peculiar cultural traits of nomads, even the globalization failed to uproot them completely. The present paper is a humble attempt to analyze the various peculiar cultural traits of the Kazakh nomads of medieval Central Asia, the impact of Soviet policies on their cultural traits and their continuities in the succeeding generations.

Abstract: Civic Education has been the foundation of national development and this development is reflected in the quality of citizens a nation have. The emphasis on positive, responsible and self-reliant citizens show the importance of Civic Education to every nation. This research was therefore undertaken to evaluate the roles Civic Education plays in developing an individual and its national implication. The underlining principle of Civic Education was to fundamentally address issues as regards the rights, responsibilities and duties of citizens to the people and the government. In Nigeria, civic education has long been practiced since the Colonial era; however it was officially introduced upon the departure of the Colonial Government, with the purpose of enhancing civic responsibilities among the Nigeria populace to ensure self-sustenance. Civic education generally consist of three components; civic knowledge, civic skills and civic disposition, which is responsible for shapening an individual to become civilized, and politically aware of the government actions. Critically dissecting the goals of Civic Education, one can observe that its significance is vested in citizenship training; hence, it may not be wrong to state that the role of Civic Education in national development is the direct reflection of the citizens’ contribution to the nation. Therefore, it could be concluded that there is an inseparable relationship between civic (citizenship) education, civility and civilisation; however Civic Education requires a medium through which its effect can be physical appreciated and that conduit are the individuals. Practically speaking, there is no direct relationship between Civic Education and national development; as development is vested on the action of the responsible individuals. Thus the need to incorporate citizenship education at all levels of societal endeavours is of fundamental essence.

Abstract: The purpose of this article is to provide an overview of the roles of microfinance institutions in relationship for sustainability of the micro entrepreneurs in Indonesia. Specifically, this paper aims to develop a conceptual framework predicting the relationship of the role of microfinance to the sustainability of micro entrepreneurs. Micro finance institutions in Indonesia play an active role in contributing to micro financing activities. These roles are performed as a manifestation of Law Number 1 year 2013 on micro finance institutions. The presentation of this article is divided into the following formats: (1) the history of microfinance institutions in Indonesia, (2) the conceptual definition of microfinance institutions, (3) the exposure of the implementation of Law Number 1 year 2013, (4) Form the current of micro finance institutions, (5) the roles of micro finance institutions for sustainability of micro entrepreneurs. By Law number 1 year 2013 on micro finance institutions in Indonesia today supports micro business actors in maintaining business and business development in the future. The contribution of this article helps provide an overview for the parties related to the management of microfinance institutions and micro business actors to support the growth of the micro entrepreneurs in Indonesia. Instead that, the purpose of micro finance institution is not only to seek profit, but also to increase the income and welfare of the people and to help increase the economic empowerment and productivity of society.

Abstract: Exploring lives of lesbian and gays is a very delicate job which requires truthful and sincere treatment of the information gathered that are maybe useful in the study. Refusal for an intimate interview is anticipation much more when personal and confidential subject will be center of discussion. Many would evade interview when questions are too private while other will escape any sort of communication. Obviously, lesbian and gays are people who find satisfaction from simple things and sheer but sincere recognition of their deed. Their hearts melt easily when they are remembered and acknowledged of their contributions and philanthropy. They too, are sensitive individuals and cries foul when they experience unfair treatment harassed and discriminated. In certain context it seems that subtle, rather blatant anti-lesbian and gay behavior are more likely perpetrated by heterosexual (Jewell & Morrison, 2010).However, the nature of subtle discrimination, including lesbian and gay persons’ experiences with these behaviors is not well understood. As such an explorative-qualitative approach was used to investigate five lesbian and ten gay teaching and non-teaching personnel at Iloilo State College of Fisheries. Informant s were recruited through personal and open-minded interviews. They confessed the challenges they encountered in the college while they were already in service and how they were able to overcome the experiences.Fifteen participants were identified and considered in the study and each was treated with utmost confidentially. All data were analyzed using life satisfaction questionnaire modified by the researcher. Findings indicated that informants were often more confident that discrimination happen when they become the target of blatant homographic behavior, while their experiences with subtle homonegativity where characterized by ambiguity or doubt whether they had been discriminated against. Informants were grouped according to gender, age, religion, highest educational attainment and length of year in service.Consequently, informants spent more time ruminating about subtle more tune ruminating about subtle lesbian and gay discrimination doubting their own interpretation of an event and questioning how they should react on these occurrences. Perhaps the most striking aspect of what it meant to be target of homonegativity was the feeling of not belonging or being “other”. The challenges experienced by the participants include some with invalidating, dehumanizing and demeaning effects but did not affect lesbians and gays “work attitudes instead they continue to strive more and prove the world they are worthy of the promotion and recognitions they receive.What makes lesbian and gay unique individuals are their talents that carved their names to be at par worth rest of gifted personage in the world, gays and lesbians are people with resiliency, making them smile even in the darkest moment of their lives, the abilities to find ways and means to survive in spite all the odds, with strong determination to achieve their dreams and aspiration without stepping on others’ foot and prove that whatever the world may pose they can survive.

Title: LIFE SATISFACTION AND CAREER CHALLENGES AMONG LESBIAN AND GAY TEACHING AND NON-TEACHING PERSONNEL

Abstract: Studies have been undertaken on constraints towards effective teaching and learning of social studies, which have revealed that Ministry of Education and teachers are impaired in enhancing social studies instruction in their areas of jurisdiction. Despite this, no significant study has been conducted in teachers’ preparedness, regarding training in content integration in social studies instruction. This study was carried out in 2010 to establish teachers’ preparedness in content integration in social studies instruction in primary schools, Ndhiwa Sub-County. The study examined social studies teachers and head teachers’ necessary training and skills to implement integrated social studies instruction. Innovation and implementation theoretical framework was used employed in the study. Further, descriptive research design was adopted, where simple random sampling technique was used to obtain a study sample of 40 primary schools comprising 20 schools head teachers and 80 classroom teachers. The research instruments used included questionnaires for head teachers and social study teachers. The study made use of interviews to collect data, which were then analyzed using Statistical Programme for Social Sciences (SPSS). A Pilot study was carried out in Homa-Bay County to ascertain the validity. The test-retest technique was employed to confirm the reliability of the instruments.  The results were presented in the form of frequencies, percentages and bar graphs. The study established that majority of the teachers were well trained on teaching social studies as an integrated discipline. However, it was established that there is perception and attitude among teachers that linking sub-topic and/or topics is challenging in social studies instruction. Further, it was revealed that there is lack of necessary and continuing in-service training of social studies teachers. From the findings it is recommended that teachers and head teachers strive to update their teaching skills through in-service courses to enrich their skills and enable them efficiently deliver in integrated social studies teaching.

Title: ADEQUACY OF TEACHERS’ TRAINING FOR EFFICIENT DELIVERY OF INSTRUCTION IN THE INTEGRATED APPROACH IN SOCIAL STUDIES: A CASE OF NDHIWA SUB COUNTY PRIMARY SCHOOLS, KENYA

Abstract: This study aims to identify relapse factors and explore strategies to cope with relapse among observation cases, analyze and improve the current treatment and rehabilitation programs in community. Qualitative study based on Hermeneutic Method which is interpreting text was used. Purposive sampling of 20 research subjects from observation cases and 5 research subjects; staff of National Antidrugs Agency (NADA) were involved. Four types of research instruments were used in frame to fulfil Triangulation Method; interview, observation, questionnaires and documents analysis. 20 research subjects were interviewed individually and their answers were recorded. 5 research subjects of NADA staff were involved in the questionnaires. Data from the questionnaires was collected from the staff of NADA. Observation was done by visiting the research subjects at their homes through ‘Home Visit’ programs. Observation was done for a period of one year. Data from documents analysis; Inmates Valuation of Recovery Performance Report (IVRPR) was collected from Cure and Care Rehabilitation Centres (CCRC). The findings highlighted that the dominant factors contributing to relapse is peer influence; 25 (29%) and their own attitude; 21 (24%) research subjects. The findings also outlines the dominant effectiveness of drug treatment and rehabilitation programs has a change in attitude; 30(25%) and forget misuse of drugs; 24 (20%) research subjects. The findings also shows the dominant improvement is to increase more recovery programs; 31 (27%) and create more job opportunities; 22 (19%) research subjects and the dominant prevention strategy is to make them stronger physically and mentally; 14 (24%) and increase faith in God; 13 (22%) research subjects. The implication of this study shows that the government through lead agency, NADA and the parties responsible should take proper action to prevent relapse rate among observation cases and ensure the process of recovery is maintained effectively throughout the observation period in community.

Abstract: The study objective was to establish whether monitoring and evaluation and project funding have any influence on the implementation of CDF projects in Juja Constituency. The study adopted agency theory, theory of project implementation, and public value theory to provide an overview discussion of the variables. A survey research design was used in this study because it is a very powerful form of qualitative analysis that involves a careful and complete observation of a social unit irrespective of what type of unit is under study. A census sampling was composed of all the 80 employees from Juja CDF offices. Data was collected using questionnaires. Data was analyzed using analytical tools such as mean as a measure of central tendency, percentages since they are very useful for showing and summarizing data when any complex models are needed. Correlations using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20.0 packages was also used to establish the level of co linearity among the independent variables. In addition multiple regressions were used to determine the effect of a set of independent variable on dependent variable. The study finding reveled that both variables were influencing strategy implementation on development funded projects in Juja constituency. The study revealed that both variables had positive and were statistically significant. The study concluded that monitoring and evaluation had a significant effect on implementation of development projects in Juja Constituency. It also concluded that project funding had a significant effect on implementation of projects. Therefore the study recommends that constituency should come up with more innovative ways of monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the proposed projects. Further the study recommended an improvement of funding criteria.

Abstract: This study was conducted to determine the readiness of grade 10 students of Molugan National High School to enroll in the Accountancy, Business and Management strand of the Senior High School curriculum. It made use of descriptive method of research using secondary data:  the National Career Assessment Examination (NCAE) result from National Education Testing and Research Center and the Academic Performance of the student-respondents. It was conducted among 28 students during the second semester of school year 2015 – 2016. As a whole, most of the respondents are not ready for the ABM strand in senior high school. From the result of their NCAE and academic achievement, four out of the twenty eight student-respondents are ready.  Also, there is no significant relationship between the student’s academic performance and the National Career Assessment Examination results. The areas of competencies taught in some academic subjects like Math and TLE does not meet with the areas of competencies in the NCAE.  It is recommended that teachers will give priority to school activities that will lead individual learners to be ready on the track they would choose on their senior high school program and teachers would enhance the positive attitudes displayed by students towards it.

Abstract: The goal of this study was to assess the Peter Thomas Geach’s observation that Socrates, as depicted in Plato’s Euthyphro not only commits what he(Geach)  calls Socratic fallacy but also poses logical redundancy and ethical scepticism. With two objectives of assessing the extent of the abortive nature of Socratic definition and analyzing the impact of Socratic Definition on ethical reasoning, the study uses philosophical hermeneutical method to investigate the logic behind Socrates’ questioning attitude and the merits of elenchus on serious discussions in ethics. The study infers that Socrates’ demand for Formal definitions of concept is within the purview of logic and critical thinking.  It is also deduced that questions of ethical nature deserve rigorous thought because they influence people’s decisions. As such decisions made out bad thinking lead to bad life, which is a greater evil that straining the mind.

Abstract: Human resource is considered to be the most crucial asset in any organization. With the rapid changes in the business world and increasing competition, organizations are strategizing on how to maximize their use of the human resource to achieve a competitive advantage over other organizations. Schools are not an exception since they are also in competition to provide the best quality students academically, in discipline and the best values acceptable in the society. This study sought to determine the effects of recruitment and selection process on the performance of teachers in Machakos County. The study used stratified random sampling to draw samples from a population of 8 sub-county Teacher service commission directors and 347 boards of management secretaries (principals) and 3019 teachers. A sample size of 346 participants was used in the study. Data was collected using questionnaires for the teachers and interview for the principals and teacher managers. The findings show that there is a positive correlation between teacher’s performance and recruitment and selection. It was also concluded that the teacher service commission had not exploited this as a way of motivating teachers to performance.

Abstract: One of the issues in rural agricultural development is labor, the labor hiring in agricultural sector is seasonal, while labor is available all the time. Even at certain times many agricultural labors are jobless. This is due to the weak organization and management of farming. A workable solution to this issue and to face the increase of competition in the globalization era is the majority farmers of narrow and scattered land have to come together in a strong management cooperation. This study aims to analyze the role of social capital of farmers of Simantri group members in providing job opportunity thus the purpose of Simantri program in reducing unemployment and overcoming poverty can be achieved. The object of this research is Simantri program members, with data collection technique through structured interview, in-depth interview, observation, and triangulation. This study used a multi-stage procedure (clustering) in determining the sample. The population classificationis done based on the implementation of Simantri group programs, especially the process and utilization of livestock manure into two levels, there are Simantri group that process the livestock manure into organic fertilizer and bio-urine and Simantri group that does not process the livestock manure.

Abstract: In recent decades trans-border migration has become an important component in migration study. It cannot be denied that by now the process of globalization induced worldwide migration and the people of South Asian countries are in line with same process. According to International Migration Organisation that highest migration within Asia is from south Asian countries. This paper looks at three important component i.e. migration within South Asia, secondly Asians mobility across geopolitical boundary to West Asia (Middle East/Gulf Countries) and South East Asia (Malaysia).  It can be noted that driving force of south Asian’s to migrate overseas is the poverty, unemployment, low quality of live, non availability of basic needs, demand for unskilled workers etc. Within South Asia most of the migrants from neighboring countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka tend to migrate to India as demand for cheap labour is high. As the economy of south Asian countries is low they tend to migrate to places like Gulf region followed by south East Asia, U.K., USA.The outflow of workers from South Asia to the Gulf was in response to the demand following the oil boom which required semi skilled laborer. In South East Asia common destination of migration are Singapore Malaysia and Thailand. While migration takes place it affects the Place of origin as well as place of destination in terms of remittance economy, Poverty alleviation, reduction in unemployment etc. Undoubetly, There are certain issues faced by migrants like women trafficking, Sexual abuse, exploitation by recruitment agency which needs to be tackled.

Abstract: Since the late 20th century, the world has been dogged by the horrific attacks by the terrorist groups. In response, several international counterterrorism rules and policies on security measures have been developed and adopted by the states. However, despite the enactment of various measures, there has not been a remarkable progress in the elimination or prevention of violent extremism, radicalization and terrorism attacks. Through a literature review, this paper examined the roles that the Kenyan civil society can engage into in order to eliminate and prevent the violent extremism and terrorism being experienced in the country. Among the identified initiatives include advisory and educative roles, engaging with extremists, legal roles, advocacy, research roles, conducting moderated inter and intra-faith debates, and capacity building. Therefore, the government and the international community should accord the necessary support to the civil society organisations.

Abstract: Business internationalization has created distinctive characteristics in the manufacturing industry, one of which is the removal of trade barriers among nations to facilitate market expansion and improve healthy competitions among business organizations. This study sought to establish the effect of international proprietary rights on financial performance of listed manufacturing companies in Nigeria. Correlational survey research was utilized in this study. The study’s target population is 74 seventy-four listed manufacturing companies in Nigeria. The study used 30% of the target population as the sample size which was 22 companies. The study used stratified random sampling to select 22 companies from the list of 74 listed manufacturing companies. The study targeted the top management of the companies. The secondary data was collected from the company’s financial reports in order to inquire about business internationalization and financial performance of listed manufacturing companies. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyse the data in this research. Specifically, descriptive statistics related to means, minimum, maximum and standard deviation. The study used multiple linear regression models to show the effect of international proprietary rights on financial performance of the listed Nigerian manufacturing companies. The effect of international proprietary rights on financial performance was found to be positive but insignificant using primary data but they findings were significant using secondary data. Based on the finding of the study, the study concludes that international proprietary rights influence the financial performance of the companies that have internationalized their operations. The study concluded that listed manufacturing companies that are struggling to finance their operations must seek international partners to partner with. The study recommended that efforts should be made by the management of the listed manufacturing companies to make the sector attractive in order to attract more foreign direct investment, engage in foreign trade and seek for foreign funding into the listed manufacturing companies in Nigeria in order to increase their financial performance.
