Abstract: This research aimed to determine on how multimedia technologies can be of great help on students’ achievement, and what learning exercises can be proposed for the enhancement of learning. This research was conducted at Nangka National High School of Nangka, Balamban, Cebu, Philippines. The experimental method was employed to gather data. The result of the pre- test showed no significant differences, which in turn proves the equivalence of the two groups. Meanwhile, the result of the post test showed that there were significant differences between the experimental group and the control group at a significance level of 0.05. The students in Chemistry showed positive attitude towards the subject and towards the integration/ use of multimedia technology. It is highly recommended that the administration and the faculty should work hand in hand in maintaining the environment conducive for learning by providing multimedia technologies inside the classrooms so that learnings will be smoothly delivered with authenticity.

Abstract: The research was conducted in the identified Elementary Schools of Toledo City Division, Toledo City, Cebu, Philippines as a bases for the development of Reading Intervention for the Graders. The descriptive method was utilized in this study to determine the status of reading instruction among graders of the identified elementary public schools of Toledo City Division, Toledo City, Cebu, Philippines during the school year 2019-2020. Respondents of the study were 38 teachers, and 141 graders who were enrolled in the identified elementary public schools of Toledo City Division, Toledo City, Cebu, Philippines during the school year 2019-2020. Gathered data were treated using the weighted mean, the chi-square and the p-value. The identified profile, and the perceptions of teachers and the status of reading instruction among graders of the identified elementary public schools of Toledo City Division, Toledo City, Cebu, Philippines during the school year 2019-2020 are not significantly correlated. Among the identified profiles of the graders, only the number of siblings, family monthly income, and multimedia available at home were significantly correlated with the status of reading instruction among graders of the identified Elementary Schools of Toledo City Division, Toledo City, Cebu, Philippines during the school year 2019-2020. The school officials should encourage teachers to always exhibit positive teaching behavior to further learning of students and maintain flexible program to cater the diverse students learning needs and interest.

Title: IMPROVING READING INSTRUCTION AMONG GRADERS

Abstract: Cavite is a historical province in the Philippines known for its three Historic Museums. First is the Aguinaldo Shrine where the flag of Philippine Independence was first waved. Second, the Gen. Baldomero Aguinaldo Shrine, where the brother of the first Philippine president, Emilio Aguinaldo, took residence. These two Shrines are both located in the town of Kawit. Lastly, the Bonifcacio Trial House, which served as the military court for Andres Bonifacio’s trial. All these historic museums are under the management of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), which also reports that historic museums are disaster vulnerable because of their old-aged structures. This study assessed the disaster preparedness of the historic museums. The method is qualitative in nature and utilized interview as the instrument of the study. The respondents are representatives of each historic museum. The result shows that NHCP is aware of the disaster vulnerabilities of the three historic museums. Moreover, they have conducted restoration projects and soundness test as precautionary measures. However, soundness test has not been conducted again for some time. The NHCP and the local government coordinate when it comes to disaster preparedness. Response is an issue because historic museums are not considered priority and because of the geographic features, that made the historic museums vulnerable. The historic museums are important because they are part of culture, history, and identity. The historic museums were disaster- prepared because of restoration and modernization projects which were done roughly 5 years ago. Disaster preparedness is important because the historic museums are old, valued and a part of community. The historic museums are also prone to flooding. While the local government has created plans to mitigate flooding, floods can be prevented so long as government programs are implemented. More importantly, regular monitoring of water level is a key component in flood control. The historic museums are prone to ground shaking (earthquake). This risk could be due to construction. There is also coordination within NHCP and the local government in disaster preparedness for ground shaking. Nevertheless, ground shaking cannot be prevented; hence, precautionary measures such as regular structural checks are conducted.

Abstract: The Mt. Batulao is a famous beginners mountain with many hikers climbing the mountain there is a need for hiking to be sustainable to minimize the negative effects of hiking. Using survey questionnaires to know the profile of the respondents and the sustainability practices (Waste Management, Biodiversity Conservation and Tourist Behavior) of the hikers and to know if there is significant difference between the profile of the respondents and their assessment of green practices. The result shows that majority of the respondents age 19-29, male an educational attainment of college graduate and has an income range of 10001 to 30000. Hiking frequency for once and visiting the site for the first time. The result also shows that the respondents practice green practices while there is a significant difference between the profile of the respondents particularly the gender and waste management and number of times hiking in the site and waste management. The output of the study was a sustainable plan.

Abstract: Cavite Puerto is an iconic place that has a glorious past, physical attributes, customs, traditions, people, religious events, culinary uniqueness and the commerce that attracts local and foreign visitors which then made tourism industry of this iconic place flourished and continue to grow through the years. This study aims to propose a historical hand-out based on the assessment results of the tourism industry status of Cavite Puerto, and its existing tourism components in terms of attractions, accessibility, amenities and accommodation present in the place. This study is significant for it scrutinizes facts from actual interviews with the seasoned citizens of Cavite City and reviewed existing historical accounts regarding the place and compiled photos that supported the findings of the study and likewise; conducted interviews and validation with the history-inclined locals and the history experts. The study utilized triangulation method which includes interview, library research, focused group discussions and historical reviews. The gathered information was verified and was deliberated and analyzed using Thematic Content Analysis in order to   draw a conclusion and a sound recommendation which led to a sustainable tourism industry of the place. This study reveals an affirmation of the glorious past of the Tourism Industry of Cavite Puerto. The consistency of the people’s clamour to participate in the annual festivity in  honor of the Virgin, its culinary aspects as well as the locals’ hospitality were the core evidence of tourism’s sustainability and continuous development. As to the different amenities, accommodation and recreational ventures which were existing decades ago proved that Cavite Puerto is one tourist haven as it caters to almost every need of the tourists. The researchers recommend the publication of a historical pamphlet which features Cavite City’s glorious past so that the tourists could have an appreciation of the significance and historical importance of the place.

Abstract: The City of Dasmariñas had a lot of well-known resorts in the area in which it provides relaxation and recreation which caters different guests. The study explores the economic benefits of the resorts in the City of Dasmariñas, through knowing the different factors on economic benefits such as direct impact, indirect impact and induced effect. The study had four selected subject resorts such as Tubigan Resort, Saniya Resort, Volets and Palmas Del Sol. The respondents subject to answer the survey questionnaire where the employees of each resort there are 100 respondents each has 25 employees. The result shows that were most of the workers in the resort industry in the city of Dasmariñas age 18 to 29, male with an educational attainment of college graduate and a monthly income of 10,000 to 19,999 pesos. The most economic benefit based on direct impact is Resort Industry Generates Jobs while on Indirect Impact was Resort Industry activity in the area helps creation of jobs from other industries and induced effect Resort industry increases the income of a person needed in purchasing goods and services. Overall, the respondents agree that the resort industry had an economic benefit on direct impact, indirect impact, and induced effect and there is a significant difference between the profile of the respondents such as age and gender and induced impact economic benefit.

Abstract: The Human Immuno-deficiency Virus (HIV) epidemic in Afghanistan is low and mainly associated with Injecting Drug Use (IDU).

Objective: This study aims to explore the HIV risk and vulnerability factors among Injecting Drug Users (IDUs) in Afghanistan in order to add to the existing knowledge and research and also to provide recommendations for improvement of the response and making contribution to halting the HIV epidemic among IDUs.

Method: This is a descriptive study based on literature review. The Modified Social Ecological Model (MSEM) developed by Baral et al.2013 used as conceptual framework for analyzing the HIV risk and vulnerability factors at five layers.

Findings: At the ‘individual layer’, the injecting risk behaviors of IDUs like sharing the injecting equipment, and their sexual risk behaviors like unprotected sexual contact with multiple partners identified as the HIV risk factors among them. At the ‘network layer’, lack of HIV knowledge, peer pressure and risky norms in the networks of IDUs, the presence of other Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), spending time in prison by IDUs, and low uptake of the harm reduction services are the factors that make the IDUs vulnerable to HIV. At the ‘community layer’, massive drug production and easy access to drug, armed conflict, massive internal and external migration, unemployment and poverty, the male gender of the majority of IDUs, high stigma and discrimination against IDUs, unsafe injecting locations such as under the bridges, and low coverage of harm reduction and drug demand reduction services are the factors that make the IDUs vulnerable to HIV.  At the ‘public policy layer’, punitive drug use law, lack of protection for the human rights of IDUs, and weak national political response to HIV and IDU identified responsible factors that make the IDUs vulnerable to HIV. Ultimately, at the layer of ‘HIV epidemic stage’, the highest HIV prevalence in the country reported among IDUs that poses a potential risk to uninfected IDUs.

Conclusion: The IDUs in Afghanistan are highly at risk and vulnerable to HIV. An informed and multi-sectoral response is required to halt the epidemic among this group. A rapid expansion of the harm reduction services is needed.

Abstract: This study has come up with different kinds of circuit based on the different classification of historical attractions that provided a strategic plan for the cities of Imus, Dasmariñas and General Trias, Cavite. The researchers examined each city’s historical attraction by the collecting information from the respondents in each Municipalities. The researchers used an observation checklist particularly the Tourist Appeal Category and graded each historical attraction under the categories of Uniqueness, Historical Value, Socio-cultural Value, Natural Aesthetic, Presence of Visitor Traffic and Facilities and Services. The observation checklist used is from the DOT-JICA guidebook on evaluating the selected towns attractions and sites. The treatment of the data used is the Tourist Appeal Category Description Grade and was validated by the researcher’s thesis adviser. The survey results helped the growth of historical attraction in the selected towns in Cavite and improved the downsides of a specific historical attraction based on the survey results. The study is qualitative research design with an exploratory research. The researchers also applied non-probability expert sampling that provided the study an accurate result through an expert’s perspective. As the result of the survey, majority of the historical attractions got the highest grade under the category of Historical Value and sadly, the lowest grade goes to the category of Facilities and Services. Historical attractions are highly valued through their age and history and Imus, Dasmariñas and General Trias, Cavite have different historical attractions in terms of tourism. These historical attractions where classified into bridges, churches, historical markers, heritage houses and monuments. The researchers concluded that the Municipality of Imus, Dasmariñas and General Trias, Cavite are rich in historical resources and national heroes that is why Cavite is called as the Historical Capital of the Philippines. The three municipalities are well-known in terms of history. It helped in educating the mind of the people and helped in preserving the historical events that are relevant in the Philippines. The researchers suggest that applying a historical circuit around selected towns of Cavite improved the impact of the tourist attraction.

Abstract: The majority beliefs, opinions or judgments of a society concerning political, religious, moral questions and are called: public opinion. Public opinion is a fundamental citizen freedom but it can also be built by being influenced by different media types, political and even social criterion. Indeed, the value of the judgment will depend on the level of knowledge that citizen have on a given subject. So, the role of media is as important as it should provide citizens reliable and diversified information to help citizens to formulate a reasoned judgment. Otherwise, in the absence of information, opinion will be determined by emotion, rumor, and can be easily be manipulated. Therefore, the media influence the way we think by presenting information in an orientation that aims to demonstrate something.

This study will essentially be focused on the analysis of the different perspectives which form and which constitute public opinion. It will also be turned to the study of the analysis of the different perceptions of different authors who will give us information on the procedure of conception and formation of public opinion.

Abstract: Investigative journalism strives to reveal hidden, secret information. On its way, it sometimes crosses the road of the secret services; which leads us to ask ourselves the following question: What is the relationship between these two professions which - ultimately work - on the same subject: information?

It is well known that the diversity of the journalistic offer is very problematic. The explosion of private media has become embedded in this manifest desire of readers to read another form of information that is more aggressive and critical, or even that it can penetrate state secrets and expose manipulations and hidden decisions of certain governments or statesmen.

In this research report, we will see the linked and complex relationships between the journalism professions and state secrets who struggle to keep certain hidden information from the general public.

We will also analyze in this report the power of the secret services and their application in certain countries to better understand the relations and the limits which link these two different sectors of activity and professions.

Abstract: Most countries confront high and growing rates of heart illnesses or Cardiovascular Disease. In today’s era deaths due to heart diseases has become a major issue approximately one person dies per minute due to heart diseases. This is considering for both male and female category and this ratio is considered for the people of age group 25-69.  To design a perceptive model for heart illnesses acknowledgment using machine learning strategies that are fit for enhancing the constancy of heart infections conclusion.  Learning Discovery in Database strategy including nine iterative and instinctive advances was grasped to think basic cases from a dataset containing a couple of echocardiography examination reports of heart patients over the globe. Thereafter, we divide this data into Training and Testing Data Sets and employ SVM technique to obtain relatively higher prediction accuracy.

Abstract: The research was conducted at Consolatrix College of Toledo City, Magsaysay Hills, Poblacion, Toledo City, Cebu, as a bases for an action plan on “High School Alumni’s Attitudes and Motivations Towards College Education Preference The descriptive method was utilized in this study to determine the attitudes and motivations of the students in the College of Education of Consolatrix College of Toledo City. Respondents of the study were101 males and 119 female students who were enrolled at the College of Education at Consolatrix College of Toledo City and at the same time High School alumni of the said School. Gathered data were treated using the weighted mean, chi-square and Pearson r. The identified profile and the level of attitudes and the level of motivations among alumni students towards studying college are not significantly correlated. The level of attitudes and the level of motivations among alumni students towards studying college are also not significantly correlated. The school officials should encourage teachers to always exhibit positive teaching behavior to further learning of students and maintain flexible program to cater the diverse students learning needs and interest. A career guidance for the College Education preference guide for students can be formulated to motivate every student of Consolatrix College of Toledo City to pursue their College degree in their Alma Mater.
